i have no idea who darren shan is, but i will comment on the sprite for your sake
he looks a little...i dunno...plastic. maybe coz his shirt isnt shaded with a slight gradient. his hair is alright, though it doesnt seem to be coming from anywhere, or going anywhere, i mean it doesnt have like source, or a direction, its just a blue thing on his head :P
the belt buck is too square shaped, and looks a bit like it was done in paint.
his pants, the crotch of the pants is too low

thanks dude.. but this thread is very old now.. try to comment more on the newer ones.. allthough i might make some new sprites... how about some requests? i can't promise anything but at least it will help me improving

new version of bandit.. he is supposed to look older just as a side note..

Yeah, he definately looks older. I don't know what's strange for you, I really like it. There are just a few edges, f. e. at his shirt you could round.
Oh and he looks like he has his chest forward + very muscular, I think because it covers his left( his perspective) arm. Maybe that's what looks strange for you?
