exams been giving a headache this month, so i thought i would try something i never done before to take a break/relax.
that is when i thought about learning to sprite :p
here is my first attempt to sprite something, not c&p or mix parts of original characters
[Image: meow.png]
i get the template in 1 from davis standing and started to color up. i had a lot of problem with the hair and face, but then i manage to make 2 there.
the face was too davis for me and i edited it to 3. critics/suggestions needed
None. This looks good.

Already have an idea on how to go about animating? Making him breathe would be the next step.

really? this is my first sprite, and no changes needed?
anyway, i accidentally found out that the clothes actually look better on davis ="=

maybe its the hair?
let how you put the shirt in the pants

Yup - the small hairdo you've drawn is a bit unusual for LF2.

="= i hate drawing the hair...i spend so much time on it and now its too small...maybe i should just make it an afro or something

------------
edited the hair, better? :D

@V the afro was a joke, its done in 5 minutes, please dont take it seriously...
Yes.
The afro needs some actual plastic shading though, it's very flat right now. Previous hair style and the face shading are a good orientation for that.

edit: I just now noticed the skin could use more contrast. The shading on it is pretty hard to see when sized down.
lets call this char Carl for now...my visual feeling of him is somehow a bit of a dancer, though.
after actually putting Carl along other fighters, i found out i have to redo a lot of contrast/color...even though i hate it, its done
here is breathing...as YinYin suggested

(thanks to Bat Tamer for doing the gif)

Well spotted on the contrast and good job on the breathing.
Also I can very well see him being a dancer - maybe elaborating a bit further on Woodys DvA - making him a full fledged capoeira fighter.
You could also add some hibiscus shapes onto his shirt to add to that theme.
i hate myself...the perfectionist in me make me go and put Carl with other characters in game, just to see if he can blend in with the others. i noticed that the skin need even more contrast. fffffuuuuuuuuuuu....
actually, this Carl here is my first actual sprite. i do it at first just to learn spriting, so my initial thought was to make a few sprites of him and thrash it, move on making new and better sprites...and so the journey to become a master spriter begins! (bgm: ta-da-da-da~)
...but now it seems like im starting to grow a liking for Carl, and even YinYin starts to talk about his fighting style. so this MAY be made into a playable character in the future, but it will be an extremely long time before his basic sprites are even done. (reason should be my laziness)

speaking of capoeira, it reminds me the most of Eddie from the Tekken series. he moves around a lot, being evasive and often hit me after avoiding my attacks. but im not sure if the capoeira theme would be good in lf2, as capoeira uses a lot of low-lying ground based moves(lying down and ducking) and involved moving a lot.

i decided to try something special, but after what seems like 5 hours(havent count out the time im lazing around doing other stuff), i manage to do this:
