RE: mundvoll_'s sprites - Siegvar - 08-19-2011 I'll add a bit to that. non rounded feet? uhm.. are your eyes on the same level as the sprite's feet? nope. lf2 takes an isometric perspective... you're looking at all the characters from slightly above. looking downwards... the feet will never have that flat bottom look. That's if you want to be precise. otherwise, flat or rounded does not matter, as long as it looks okay. Also, try taking any pictures at normal eye level of people and look at the feet. you will almost never see flat feet. the only situation when you will see flat feet are when the camera is at the same height as the surface the person is standing on, or if the feet is pointing exactly to the sides and not at an angle. But then again, that's only if you want to be precise. And yes, go take a look at lf2's feet. They're not precise at all... and most of them are rounded. As far as I remember.. only firzen has absolutely flat feet. RE: mundvoll_'s sprites - Jahvansi - 08-19-2011 thx for the comments here's a ninja: made on own base, i think thats why his head got so small :/ are the feet right this time? ps: monolith pls stop these "..." they are freaking annoying and its hard to read and/or to get what u wanna say RE: mundvoll_'s sprites - Monolith - 08-20-2011 good sprite. Strange looking, light on gloves, but still good. RE: mundvoll_'s sprites - Siegvar - 08-20-2011 (08-19-2011, 10:47 PM)mundvoll_ Wrote: Nice try for baseless sprite. Looks like you're slowly getting the hang of what kind of shading style you want to use. Anyway, try to pay attention to the pose and proportions: 1. His legs are quite short compared to the rest of his body. 2. The positioning of the arms. Right now his left arm is straightened and tucked close to the body and lowered quite a bit compared to his right arm. I'm not sure what he's doing but that's not a comfortable nor natural posture to leave the arms in. It looks like he's trying to reach down and scratch his knee or crotch, or trying to pull his pants up. When doing sprites without base, it is also a good opportunity to draw poses other than just standing with the arms to the side in a neutral fashion. Try drawing a dynamic stance and give it some personality. An on guard stance with his arms raised in front of him may be nice... as if he's preparing to use his knives to strike. RE: mundvoll_'s sprites - Sonic Boom - 08-20-2011 Cool sprite... But I don't like those small highlights in his torso Keep Spriting |
