you really might want to use a brighter colour for mana. it's invisible on blue, as well as almost non-existent on the grey-black one.

Not yet, none of these monsters/NPC's have magic spells and stuff to use.
Later on in the game they'll have a few more abilities to annoy you with, I promise you this.
