I think Chishio did all the constructive criticism neccesary and even more, so I'll just stick to some... interesting things in this contest:
*Whaat's dragon punch effect.
*Alectric's awesome execution of a good idea and design.
*Bamboori's fire effect.
*DesignHeaven's sprite. No, really, this is your best sprite ever. Pose, energy effect, upper body and face is flawless. Pants needs some work (or maybe you wanted shiny pants, but they don't fit at all, some cameo pants would make this almost perfect). Also, it seems that your style is that of real human proportions. Before this contest I thought it was kinda weird, but you implemented it very well in this case.
*Luti's lazyness. Lately I hope to see new sprites from you because they are what I really like, pixel-wise correct shading and proportions, and awesome, fresh designs (but mainly the first). But in this case it seems you did the sprite very fast, and the design is not yours... Don't get me wrong, it's a good sprite, but in the last weeks you made the expections of others grow up very high. Atleast mine :p
*Chishio's design and energy effect. I don't know how you guys come up with good chars with beards and those kind of outfits, lol. Everything else is of your usual quality (aka awesome). The shining effects seems to affect the shadows of the sprites and not the highlights, I don't like that very much, but the sprited effect, in the other hands, is really cool.
Voted for Alectric, DesignHeaven and Chishio.

lol, the fire effect took like 5 minutes max and zero effort while the sprite itself took 2-3 hours and lotsa work ._.

Unfortunately, that's how it is with this voting system, if you're not among the best, its very easy to end up with almost 0 votes.
A ranking vote system that converts ranks into points would be better in this regard, or a complete rating system for every entry by either anyone or a panel of judges could work too.
