oh, I am really sorry! it turned out, that I blamed the wrong object. while every frame had the oid: 237, one frame had oid: 207. I simply forgot to copy the necassary frames in davis_ball.dat.
so everything you all said was correct, I am the idiot among us. I officially apologize.
