RE: Ramond's RPG Adventure: The Return! - Ramond - 02-13-2015

PS. I updated the FAQ and put all the questions about the new combat system into its own category.

I'm gonna move up one step and then Firebolt I4.

Also, if I interpret the Area attacks correctly, then my Lightning Field has a RADIUS of 7 squares, so it would basically shock this whole field. That feels... unsafe.

Also yay! Update!

I just want to make sure whether you've read the section about attacking from a range in the FAQ (the bit with the HPM modifiers). Because the way you phrase your turn now, you have a chance of 36% of hitting your enemy. (But of course this could be a precaution to be out of the enemy's melee range, however keep in mind he might also have ranged attacks...)

Oh, well, as far as I interpreted it, spells have a range, and beyond that you take a penalty equal to your HPH for each square further away from the target. Thus, assuming each square actually is considered 1 square, I count six squares to I4 from that position, giving me a hit chance of 93%.

Or have I missed something?

Yes, the HPM modifier is added per square from your target (starting with range 2). So at a range of 5 you have 72% hit chance (5 is the ordinary maximum of your Fire Bolt). There's the possibility to go over your ordinary maximum range (also in the FAQ, last Q in the section currently), and since you would be range 6 from your enemy, hit chance is halved once, making it 36%

Well then, I'll amend my movement to moving Up 2 and then throwing a Firebolt, which should put me within 5 and thus give me 72%, which while not amazing at least keeps me out of melee range. For now.

Also, my spells have a really short range.
