Well, shading and details and everything looks really nice to me, but the size and proportions... I mean,

Lol, since when does paint blur double-sized stuff?
If you have a blank 79*79 bitmap, you can start with the hair at almost the top and the feet should be at the bottom. Somewhere in between, legs and upper body should meet. When you compare your sprite to Woody, you can see that the main differences between them are the size of the hair and the length of the legs. Usually, legs should be a bit longer than the upper body. If they aren't the char will look stumpy. The chin of your sprite is quite close to Woody's one( height-wise), but the belt definitely isn't.
Just as a side-note: eyebrows are usually darker than the hair.

couldn't you just post the sprites into your other sprites thread?

ontopic:
the first sprite:
it is a little small in size but it is ok

the second one:
improved but still small in size.

Agree with chase on that one. Would be better to smash it into your other thread.

Also, even though it's called "spriting from scratch", it doesn't forbid you to put an original sprite next to the painting-area. It's some sort of hybrid-solution between spriting with a base and from scratch. You might want to try doing this first before drawing everything from scratch ;)

Looks pretty nice, but his upper body is longer than his lower body which looks weird.

Also, try making him a bit 'thicker'. Don't shade him like he is fat, but just make the dude a bit broader.
I like the shirt shading and those bands around his waist :)

RE: New Sprite(s) - XLittlebob252 - XLittlebob252 - 06-22-2010

thanks man but the lower body some of it its hidden behind the belts that is why it looks shorter.

RE: New Sprite(s) - XLittlebob252 - snorsorbet - 06-22-2010

Yes, I took that into account :P

But I mean, look at yourself. Your legs aren't as short as your head and torso.
