RE: New Sprite(s) - XLittlebob252 - prince_freeza - 06-29-2010 in order to learn how to make proper proportioned base from scratch you will first need to draw over existing bases (like tania pointed) to study the lf2 proportions and learn them. for example take luthicris when he first started with spriting he kept using bases every time. despite every one telling him to try making them from scratch. after a while he tried it and i think he made quite impressing sprites from scratch. but then again i can clearly see thru his latest sprites that he is back on using existing bases. anyways long story short start spriting over lf2 sprites for like a months then try to make scratch sprites and see what happens... freeza out. RE: New Sprite(s) - XLittlebob252 - XLittlebob252 - 06-29-2010 but i dont want to "get in the box again" well ill try that but a bit cause i dont want to ruin my chances again. and ![]() what do you all think? RE: New Sprite(s) - XLittlebob252 - forgetlatios - 06-29-2010 i think whatever pf thinks. long story short, get back to bases. RE: New Sprite(s) - XLittlebob252 - XLittlebob252 - 06-29-2010 no way i just started to spriting good with scretch sprites and im not going back to sprite with bases. ill just have to practice RE: New Sprite(s) - XLittlebob252 - Siegvar - 06-29-2010 Well if you don't want to go back to bases there's always Figure Drawing for practice. Its a much more difficult process at this point but eventually everyone has to do it to get away from bases and still get proportions right. Its just a matter of when they decide to. Still.. bases are a better idea... as long as you always change bases. don't get stuck on one type of base. RE: New Sprite(s) - XLittlebob252 - XLittlebob252 - 06-29-2010 PF you made also sprites that arent so good also and you still made sprites from scretch so you practiced with it and you got result and now this is what im going to do all i need is someone to teach me how to do the proportions right. RE: New Sprite(s) - XLittlebob252 - Chishio - 06-29-2010 (06-29-2010, 05:49 PM)XLittlebob252 Wrote: PF you made also sprites that arent so good also and you still made sprites from scretch Correct me if I am wrong PF, but I am pretty sure he worked quite hard on creating his own custom base to work off of. Not to mention he is an excellent sketcher who seems to be able to draw quite good proportions. Even with a great mind for proportions, your first few sprites will most likely be 'stinkers'. Littlebob, it is very unwise to hope to get better in something if you do not know what you are truly aiming for in the first place. You are aiming for better proportions with your sprites. But as of right now, all you are doing is aimlessly repeating your same mistakes. I fall back to suggesting you to either using a base until you have the proportions down perfectly there. Then go in to making your own base. With my new 'Ragelex' sprite, I made the idiotic mistake of spriting it from scratch with no base whatsoever. It took me about an extra hour or two to fix up the proportions so the sprite actually looked somewhat decent and another hour or so to perfect everything. I want to try something with your next sprite, whatever it may be. I want you to write a little write-up, a paragraph or so, perhaps less. Heck it could even be some quick notes, on what you want to address with the sprite. What are you goals with this sprite. Here is an example: [ ] proportions [ ] color scheme works well [ ] etc... While spriting aimlessly might be fun, if you want to truly achieve a high quality sprite. I think you need to think more about the concept of the sprite and what you need to address. Good luck with all this. But remember the most important part of spriting, please. Have fun with it. |
