RE: uhmm, use hex to find out how to read lfr files? - tgquan67 - 11-08-2008 But, is there anyway to play LFR file(s) when u aren't opening LF2? When u want to play LF2 (for example: show your friends), u have to open LF2. Opening LF2 just to play recordings? I don't think it's good, especially if u have a slow computer. It's better for us to find out how to play LFR file(s) with a standalone file, apart from lf2.exe file. RE: uhmm, use hex to find out how to read lfr files? - Silverthorn - 11-08-2008 well, you can replay the file in LF2 while you're using a screen-capture-program... there's no other way.... If anyone wouldn't bother creating a program... But such project is born to fail because you don't know what kind of "language" there is; the way to read those files is unique for LF2... RE: uhmm, use hex to find out how to read lfr files? - Silverthorn - 11-08-2008 yea, that's the problem. Even if you look at the csv-converter closer, you'll notice that this is just a slightly modified lf2.exe-file. A bunch of resources were replaced to decrease the file size. But I guess, most of the code is still compiled in there.... So, nobody has bothered to write a completely new program dealing with lfr's, Marti just used the reader from the game-exe as the big basis.... Anyway the problem is the recording file only contains the actions pressed, what map was used, random values etc. To make a separate program you have to fully imitate all of lf2 physics, random-ness , data system etc. And at the end of the day you are still loading the same data making it kind of pointless .
