RE: Contest #2: Background Challenge - Silverthorn - 02-15-2009 Try #2........ Magnificence Width: 3100px Parallax Scrolling: Yes Animation: No Dynamic Effects: Yes (Light rays will appear randomly from the sky. When you touch them, you'll regain hp) Download: >clicky< Screenie (Click to View) Fixed the stuff you mentioned (well, most of it ) - little-fighterized the ground - made the parallax-effects stronger - shading of trees/mountains increased (as the light is coming from the back) - added another mountain-layer (hooray ) edit: just noticed those strange lines on the ground in the screenie. They do not appear in-game, my image host is just driving me nuts again... edit2: nice Engman/Germish, Zanshin :P I edited the readme. Somehow I'm not able to make it look more 3d-ish...... :/ RE: Contest #2: Background Challenge - Som1Lse - 02-15-2009 Ive also updated mine a bit. Most the dynamic effects(actually only the dynamic effects) Check the first post for details.(Number 46 or reply 45) RE: Contest #2: Background Challenge - Zanshin - 02-15-2009 There is a mistake in the readme: Quote:Extract the folder into sprite/sys But you need to extract it into bg/sys. Btw. nice background, but the images are looking flat and not 3D. RE: Contest #2: Background Challenge - Alectric - 02-16-2009 Much better BP! you fixed it perfectly! now it's EPIC! Great work! RE: Contest #2: Background Challenge - prince_freeza - 02-19-2009 here is my background. Name: beach Width: 967px Parallax Scrolling: Yes Animation: no hope u like it! u can download it here: RE: Contest #2: Background Challenge - Bamboori - 02-19-2009 hmm, the sand could be a bit more realistic (looking at shading and the totally horizontal sand end), also you could try to animate the birds^^ RE: Contest #2: Background Challenge - Alectric - 02-20-2009 not too bad prince_freeza, it is a little too blurred, and you might want to make the trunks of the palm trees brown, and make the the top of the sand layer(top layer) un-even and lumpy, and you'll get a nice effect, and make the background look cooler. if you want to get tricky, you should make the point of light the sun, so instead of a vertical gradient in the background, have the light look like its more coming from the sun hope you understood RE: Contest #2: Background Challenge - Marshall - 02-20-2009 animating the birds would be hard within the 30 frame limit... RE: Contest #2: Background Challenge - Alectric - 02-21-2009 MY FINAL ENTRY Thanks for all who helped and gave me advice! Name: Oriental gardens Parallax scrolling: yes layers: plentiful width: 1500px now updated DOWNLOAD or see my "[bg] oriental garden" thread Enjoy! |
