RE: [Char] Quill v2.0 - Luciano Rezoagli - 04-14-2012

It's just a kitten with shots of the knight, is only 1 or 2 attacks

RE: [Char] Quill v2.0 - Jed37 - 04-15-2012

Alright, Luciano, I admit, the character is not meant to be some hugely OP character that can do all teh pwnzorz in any situation. It flips around, throws knives, and sometimes stabs people. That's the character. But... one or two moves? Really? I count at least six different nonstandard moves, PLUS the extended combo on the regular attacks, and the fact that it can just throw the knives like a normal character can. Maybe you should look through the readme file.

And it's only a kitten due to popular request.

Also, some people have been complaining about the lack of eyes in the facepic.
So, I made a version with eyes. Personally, I think it's too cartoony.

Any thoughts?

EDIT: just for fun, I also made a version with Michelle Bachmann eyes. Just to be terrifying.

RE: [Char] Quill v2.0 - Shane - 04-17-2012

It's a great character, and the portrait with eyes doesn't look to me as though it came out of a cartoon. Quill focuses on agility rather than blocking attacks, and it's amazing.

RE: [Char] Quill v2.0 - Alblaka - 04-17-2012

I must admit, I can understand that plagiarists oppinion in this case. It's a nice concept to have Quill jumping around constantly, but the fact he can only slash or throw DOES make him onesided of sorts.

Next to that, the knives are horribly overpowered, given they take quite no mana and you can spam leap+throw, constantly being midair, for quite no mp costs, compared to the above-average damage (compared to projectiles) they do.
On a sidenote, you relocated Teleport to D>J, readme states D^J.

I would suggest following: Less damage on the throwing knives, increased mp, no instant-fall.
Instead increase his leap's height (> easier dodging of projectiles) and eventually give him a few (ofc mid-leap) special moves akin to multi-throw or similar.
As well, a random move related to cats could be fun. F.e. throwing a ball of string at the enemy, catching/ensanring them for a few seconds :3

RE: [Char] Quill v2.0 - Jed37 - 04-17-2012

Alright, thanks for the insight! I'll work on balancing out the character, then maybe I'll add some moves. I don't think I'll make the leap higher though. It would mess up a lot of his moves. And you can't be hit during a leap anyway, as long as you're not attacking.

jed nice update
This char will go somewhere :]

RE: [Char] Quill v2.0 - Bamboori - 04-17-2012

instead of adding eyes, add those hairs cats have round the nose and maybe small teeth ;D

Can I suggest a move?

@Bamboori:
Cats have whiskers around their nose.

RE: [Char] Quill v2.0 - Jed37 - 04-18-2012

Okay, I followed Alblaka's expert advice, and upped the mp costs. Plus, the regular throws cost mana now also, though only a bit.
Everything does a bit less damage too.

And I tried making teeth and whiskers, and I'm not sure how it came out. What do you think?

frankly, it seems a bit too bunnylike.

Doesn't seem like a bunny or a Mimiga.

Anyhow, it looks better than with the eyes visible. It seems more cat-like.

And reminds me of my mother's three cats that scratched me 15 times today for no apparent reason.
