no it is gonna be close good, but your participants were strong too.

in my opinion it was close between you and gad, and boom & bob

RE: Revamped Sprites - Siegvar - 11-29-2011

Back again. Vote goes to Gad.
Its pretty clear this round.

Monolith actually did better with the sprite he submitted under the name Sadlanier... Cleaner clearer more distinct and purposeful shading. Although it does look like he spent a little less time with it, that may have helped instead.

XLB and SB seem stuck with their old habits though.

Anyway in general, you guys should all really try practice some still life drawing.
(grab a pencil and paper, and just spend 15 to 30 minutes a day drawing stuff you see around you. spend about 10 minutes per object, pay attention to shape and shade.)
If you want to work on humanoid stuff... it'd be neat if you have action figures to work with.... else... I dunno.

RE: Revamped Sprites - LutiChris - 11-30-2011

voted for Gad and Sonic Boom

@Gad: instantly caught my eye. Great job!
The outfit is fresh, which is what i really liked about it comparing
shading is alright, i would have liked it better if the hair had more contrast in the front. (so hairlines can be more noticeable)
overall it's very well done and thoughtout, again ~great job
@Sonic Boom: i like that kind of shading, simple and even comical in my opinion.
i don't know if the holes in the shirt really worked out but it did seem to catch my eye (idk why ~just seems interesting)
facial expression is alright but those side-burns! mhmm...i thought that was amusing :)
reminds me of one of those tv/radio announcer's from 90's that got into a fight

for those of you who missed out...

@monolith: the "figure" is a bit-too human for my liking, it's a good pose and shading is nicely done...
the upper-portion (such as the sllightly hidden facial expression & design on hair) seemed to be a real put off for me
@Xlilbob: this one just missed my vote...
face seems too be a bit too generic and blurred out, body is a bit too tall (it could be just the arms themselves)
shading is pretty good however when you shaded his vest/jacket ~proportionally, the shading seemed too flat, and not round enough...
would have liked to have seen more hair because generally hair-cuts are just too plain and your very limited on the creative aspect to it, imo it's hard to pull that one off unless they are robust and muscular (which i know is very steriotypical)
@koori-youkai: the shades & lighting you use is very interesting but it seemed too radiate too much contrast (when you added the whites to it)
as Siegvar mentioned before refer back to other spriters in their methods of shading, i would also like to mention to be mindful of the poses you are using. This one was kinda perplexing. The position of the way the body is and the arms holding the bow seemed flimsy and not thought-out carefully enough.

@Everyone
next week we'll start the next round...so keep your votes coming

RE: Revamped Sprites - Jahvansi - 12-02-2011

okay my week, my critic:

Gad:
really nice, love the outcome, imo the best entry ;) i also like how u added a few extra details and gave the design ur own touch :)

xLittlebob252:
pretty nice, like the outcome, his left arm/hand looks a bit strange, seems twisted to me, gj :)

Monolith:
nice pose, good executed but sadly it isnt really LF2 proprtioned, otherwise good job ;)

Koori:

nice colours, u know i like ur style but here the whole sprite looks a bit messed up :/ keep it up!

Sonic:

good job, correct proportions, i really like what u made out of my sprite, its a bit different from mine but its cool ;)

@v,its pointless to make sprites for some member month revamp when here is just a week

RE: Revamped Sprites - prince_freeza - 12-02-2011

it doesnt matter.. the time line depends. sometimes its a week (all members posted in time) some times it gets extended to even a month (some dont have the time to post hence request an extended deadline)
