crusader - AdRaX - 10-07-2008 well here it is ... after countless attempts to make it look right i got to the best i could(don't mind him being headless.. i couldn't make it look right). it's not very lf2 styled either so im asking if i should use this or try something else lf2 style(preferrably cut'n'paste because im kind of lazy ![]() open to comments and critisizim - RE: crusader - Hypermodder - 10-07-2008 cons: 1) I already made a char called "crusader", but however... 2) Not very lf2-styled! 3) WTF is the head??? pros: 1) cool sprite! 2) good colors! 3) clear spriting! RE: crusader - Chishio - 10-07-2008 Um... from what I can tell that is just a 3-D model that has been flattened. LF2 Styled: No, but we all have our own unique styles, develop yours a little more, I am impressed as long as you did not take that from anywhere. The 'sprite is also very detailed, good job if that is what you were aiming for, the color scheme is also really ncie. RE: crusader - SirFrog - 10-07-2008 Indeed a good sprite. Good color scheme. Nice design. Good first sprite (Much better than my first...) His arms is however in a bit of a strange position, with his elbows a bit up and his arms hanging. All in all: Great work! (And if i have understood this right you are gonna add one of those weapons too? Keep on going, man!) RE: crusader - AdRaX - 10-07-2008 hypermodder@ i know youve already made a crusader and ive seen it. you didn't make any new sprites and you added a bunch of huge itrs to it.. i wouldn't really call that a character. also i already said it was going to be headless at first because i could'nt make it look lf2 styled. the shoes aren't all that clean so i tried to make them like boots(i was aiming for the black snowshoes in maplestory) chishio@ i work with photofiltre and have been spriting sice i was 10(im 15 now) but ive been spriting for another game so thats why it looks different. and as for the 3d flattening thing. i don't even know how that works so... yeah sirfrog@ not my first sprite but thank you anyways. yes the positions are a bit weird because his armor is shaped like that and i couldn't get a straight effect so it kinda looks like it's hanging ,anyways after it got a it of a human shape i kinda gave up and probably won't use this for the characters base sprite , maybe ill use it as armor for another character(maybe something like julio except playable). and yes he is going to have a weapon and he will use it in a weird way with a different moveset. i explained the dc in the tutorials section in the dc forum RE: crusader - Silverthorn - 10-07-2008 First thing that came into my mind: "So... if that would be a sprite for LF2, which frame should it represent?" It looks like he's turned towards the viewer, not the actual action going on in-game. You need to "turn" the sprite. Easy if it was a 3d model, however, since you did it in 2d, this is getting an awkward job.... Like you said, you shouldn't use that one as a base-sprite, therefore it looks too strange... I dunno why but this pose reminds me of an RPG-game :P If you really created it from scratch and didn't use other people's work, then I must say: GREAT JOB! Keep it up! ![]() RE: crusader - AdRaX - 10-07-2008 thank you and anyways yeah your right it wouldn't be a good base anyways but after a tiring hours of adding layer after layer i got kinda tired of doing it so i continued until the head so i probably will rip this apart and use it as some type of armor later on in anoter character(possibly a knight mod?) and it probably will remind you of an rpg game because it's a version of an armor in the game maplestory but the sprites in maplestory are small and weird compared to lf2 so i just drew out the top armor on a layer of grey then shaded it in, added a little design and i blurred it and sharpened it so it adds a more realistic effect . anyways what im actually here for is to learn how to sprite in lf2 style. i really like most of your guys work and alot of you guys can sprite pretty well so yeah.and doing it in 2d is my style it's how my friend did it and he taught me some techniques on spriting like layering the sprites and actually erasing what you already have to get the shape you want. the only thing i was able to do was the shoes and that was by pure luck. there was some feature on photofiltre called skew or something like that and i used it on the straight shoe so i only had to draw the heel and thats why the feet look more 3dish RE: crusader - Hukko - 10-08-2008 Yeah, this isn't for LF2 style! The spriting is very good, but DCer don't search this sprite style. Sorry... RE: crusader - Gad - 10-08-2008 It's not very lf2 styled, but it's great! xD RE: crusader - AdRaX - 10-08-2008 well after like 5 minutes of cut n pasting and some hue alteration here is the result and probably the base- |
