Tolerance and behavior in this forum - KadajNoir - 11-15-2008 I don't want to start a war.... but it bothers me that some users in this forum (3-4 people) show little tolerance. They rate new users negative immediately for every little mistake they did. (a neutral rating is okay, i think) Some examples: http://www.lf-empire.de/forum/reputation.php?uid=1260 http://www.lf-empire.de/forum/reputation.php?uid=1278 http://www.lf-empire.de/forum/reputation.php?uid=1280 http://www.lf-empire.de/forum/reputation.php?uid=1271 http://www.lf-empire.de/forum/reputation.php?uid=23 http://www.lf-empire.de/forum/reputation.php?uid=1254 http://www.lf-empire.de/forum/reputation.php?uid=1188 http://www.lf-empire.de/forum/reputation.php?uid=1183 http://www.lf-empire.de/forum/reputation.php?uid=141 Sorry, but that childish behavior pisses me off ![]() (I know, i'm not perfect) But it would be better if you guys act like our admins/moderators! Give new users a chance and don't pass judgement on them immediately, because we all were noobs in the beginning. If you wanna help to improve their behavior, send them a friendly private message. Thx RE: Tolerance and behavior in this forum - Azriel - 11-15-2008 Azriel Wrote:supporting HM's idea, LF2 is made for kids, and so when a kid starts making their own char, they obviously want to make something fast and annihilate everything. What's the most accessible image editing software to everyone? Obviously it's MS Paint. But now there's more free powerful programs. GIMP. welcome to changing the hue and sepia. Alright so this is what they do. Plus they want moves, and so they repeat the process and take sprites from other sprite sheets. hue. add data, overpowered of course. perhaps people didn't get my idea right (i actually meant that imagine a forum with all tat, it'll be quite a rank-controlled forum - definitely not good). Check back on the elitism thing that Cirno mentioned. Personally, I wouldn't rate anyone unless i'm rating them up (testuser is different =s). perhaps we need "simple english" rules Azriel~ RE: Tolerance and behavior in this forum - dubbleD - 11-15-2008 i agree hukkos been mean to me too. and all because i wrote something incorrect. i meant one thing when writing something else and only realised the problem 1 day after. it was a typo RE: Tolerance and behavior in this forum - MH-Razen - 11-15-2008 I checked all your repuration-pages you showed and agree - new users which are rated quickly cause of a small mistake they made. Actually it's not that nice for BluePhoenix and me to care about this, too, but giving them a bad reputation before they have a chance to correct their mistakes or apologice is really not very fair. Actually we usually warn new users which come there with questions like "How to create chars", so only the user sees it and it disappear after a while. That should be enough. I don't really want to come up with a tool now which only allows reputation from 10 posts on or so, I just hope some users see their behaviour is intolerant and kinda hard and change it! Edit: And about the Rules what Azriel mentioned - make a concrete suggestion ![]() RE: Tolerance and behavior in this forum - KadajNoir - 11-15-2008 At first, THANKS for your statements. Quote:I just hope some users see their behaviour is intolerant and kinda hard and change it!That's why i started this weird thread! ^^ Anyway, people can delete the negative rating they gave ![]() RE: Tolerance and behavior in this forum - Ascor - 11-15-2008 Yeah yeah i see but it's not ok if someone writes in every of his/her posts won't say any names Wrote:And my reputation goes down and down and down.... RE: Tolerance and behavior in this forum - KadajNoir - 11-15-2008 Of course it's not fine, but you could send him a private message rather than -1 him ![]() Not everyone can be an ideal user at the beginning. But he has time to learn the rules ![]() RE: Tolerance and behavior in this forum - Silverthorn - 11-15-2008 Agree completely with Noir. No user can be perfect from his first post on *looking at myself*. I know that members don't have a great variety to choose from when it comes to give negative feedback about a user. Whereas admins still have the warn-function, the only thing left for others is the reputation-thingy. However, it's kinda bad to judge somebody just by one single post. I must admit, some people can get really annoying, but only a few posts don't tell about the entire behavior of a member (usually). Replying to a thread isn't really the best idea because this usually ends in a) backseat modding and b) in a flaming war. The only thing left is the PM system. And the IRC, of course. Or any other instant messenger. Giving negative reps to new members isn't really the nicest thing to do. Imagine, you'd be in their position. How would you react when suddenly a more experienced member gives you a negative reputation because you didn't behave right / forgot a single thing? Just for comparison, forgetting to search the mainsite first results in +10% warning level. That isn't really a big deal. A reputation of -1, however, is a big deal. Getting out of that reputation is really hard. Other members know that you've done something wrong, read it, and judge you even harder. As soon as you do your next mistake, your reputation goes further down. We have this warning system, and we (aka. staff) use it. There's no need to -rep others for minor offenses. I know, some people can get really annoying, especially if they have to state the obvious. But, are you always on the same level? Aren't you growing up? Couldn't you change your behavior? You are no robot that can only do what you've been programmed to. You can change your mind. Be understanding, people have different views, and this is even intensified by possible lost-in-translation-issues. Try to be a little more friendly and tolerant, otherwise you might regret it.... RE: Tolerance and behavior in this forum - Hypermodder - 11-15-2008 Totaly agree with noir. Guess why I just vote "neutral" for guys pissing me off. neutral= the right way negative= a bit to rude I also had to learn that! RE: Tolerance and behavior in this forum - Scorpion - 11-15-2008 If you think that giving somebody a -1 rep is the wrong way and there isn't any use for it, why don't you simply disable this function ? |
