[mod] Metal Gear LF2 - Wind - 02-22-2009

Hello, this is Wind. I just somehow got introduced to this place. Quite a big community of people who do mods for LF2 :D
I may like to come here often and learn new modding technique.

I also would like to introduce my LF2 mod project: "Metal Gear LF2."

This will be a big project where we will replace all the characters with Metal Gear Solid themed characters. We will remake a new stage mode as well. We currently have Solid Snake, Raiden, Roy Campbell, Big Boss, Otacon, Python, The Sorrow, Ocelot, Vamp, REX and RAY ready, and we are working on the next character.
Sprites were all hand drawn from scratch by my little brother.

RE: [mod] Metal Gear LF2 - Alblaka - 02-22-2009

^^ Welcome on LFE

The mod is GREAT (already tested it), even when the chars are kinda overpowered (they are all same strong, but stronger then normal chars). And to Ray i don't have to say much XD

But Rex seems to be general an error. You cannot call my PC a lower-end pc and it still crashes...

Hi Alblaka, could you tell me your computer specification? I need to research what kind of computers are having this problem. My two laptops at home work fine as well as some other users play testing it.

And could you try using these codes
Code:
<object>
id:  0  type: 0  file: data\template.dat
id:  53 type: 0  file: w\mg\rex.dat
id:  54 type: 0  file: w\mg\ray.dat

to replace everything above
Code:
id:  52  type: 0  file: data\julian.dat
in the data.txt? We try to switch around the character loading orders and see it has any effects.

RE: [mod] Metal Gear LF2 - Alblaka - 02-22-2009

I will try ^^

On Lf2net i already posted my computer dats, but i will here, too:
2,6 GH, 1 GB RAM, and a acceptable good graphic card ^^ (don't ask me, which one exactly)

edit: Switching hadn't worked...

RE: [mod] Metal Gear LF2 - Wind - 02-22-2009

Well, my guess the problem might be the graphic card. It would be more helpful if you tell me the graphic card type you're using, but it's okay if you don't like to. You will have to remove REX from the game before I done enough research on the reason for this problem.

RE: [mod] Metal Gear LF2 - Alblaka - 02-22-2009

-.-
I would like to say you, but i really don't know. Something with 256 MB, that's all, what i know XD

I'm not much interested in CPU hardware and my father put that graphic card in... *shouldertwich*

How can you see detailed information about your Gc? In a system menu?

On XP: Click Start > Run > Type dxdiag > press enter
On Vista: Click Start(Windows Logo) > In the search bar type dxdiag > press enter

There should be DirectX Diagnosis Tool window come up. Click the tab that says Display. Your graphic card name will show in there.

RE: [mod] Metal Gear LF2 - Alectric - 02-23-2009

it dosent work for me neither
and ive got 3GB of ram, 3.01 GHZ for processor, and 512mb Nvidia graphic card
you said before it may be the sprites, because they are too big
but i doubt that (i think) because rays sprites are huge too, and i have seen bigger sprites than rexs in action.
fun mod:)

RE: [mod] Metal Gear LF2 - Wind - 02-23-2009

Your specification is better than my laptop used to run this mod. It's pretty weird you're having this problem.
Can either one of you do me a favor? If you are possible to open .dat file, go to "w" folder then the "mg" folder.
Open REX.dat, and delete the codes:
Code:
file(18-38): w\mg\rex_attack.bmp  w: 506  h: 348  row: 3  col: 7
file(39-59): w\mg\rex_weapon.bmp  w: 506  h: 348  row: 3  col: 7
file(60-74): w\mg\rex_weapon2.bmp  w: 506  h: 348  row: 3  col: 5
file(75-89): w\mg\rex_weapon3.bmp  w: 506  h: 348  row: 3  col: 5
file(90-116): w\mg\rex_emotion.bmp  w: 506  h: 348  row: 3  col: 5
file(90-116): w\mg\rex_emotion2.bmp  w: 506  h: 348  row: 3  col: 4

Basically leaving only the first spritesheet to load. See if you can load REX.dat after doing so.

RE: [mod] Metal Gear LF2 - Alectric - 02-23-2009

weird...deleting those lines made it worse
the loading of ray takes 2 time more, then when it gets to rex, it either shuts the lf2.exe instantly or freezes and takes for ever to close.
what the hell is going on?
i hope you can fix this, maybe the rex.dat files are more up to date then ours?
im not sure how to read the temporary.txt, so i cant see the problem

EDIT: having a quick look at the data, would it be an overload? there is 300 and something frames and they all have HEAPS of itr's
