YOu can enter the LFE IRC Channel now while using a java based client here. YOu can reach it while clicking the IRC Chat Icon on top of the forum. For further help go to IRC Help Thread

Just in case you have problems in logging into the irc at the site here, be sure to check that
a) you're already logged in in the forums
b) your username doesn't contain special characters such as spaces or these weird thingies: ~
Otherwise chances are that you get something like that:
