Why the stories section fails (offtopic discussion of the story contest thread) - Evil Sonidow - 07-26-2009 Point is, that doesn't depend on you only, Phil. If the rest of LFE staff did encourage our members to write, divulge more stories, I'm pretty sure the stories section could increase in both size and quality. RE: Contest #5: Writing Challenge (voting) - Reaper - 07-26-2009 Yes, if they would. But obviously they don't. And that might also have something to do with the popularity of the stories. The LFE staff is generally a bit more interested in the stories of the forum( I think), but mainly this is an LF2-forum so that is what they are foccusing on. But I think at the moment there are some new storytellers in here( which has probably something to do with phils effort. Because noone would post stories in here if they didn't get commented.) So its slowly getting more popular. anyway, just one day left, right? How exciting... RE: Contest #5: Writing Challenge (voting) - Evil Sonidow - 07-26-2009 The LFE staff is generally a bit more interested in...in...oh right they're not interested in much stuff at all, since LFE has been stagnated for a long time. I end my comment here. RE: Contest #5: Writing Challenge (voting) - The Lost Global Mod - 07-26-2009 hm.. you guys are right.it isn't my fault alone but meh i have been slacking off lately.. have given a damn about commenting or advertising.. i dunno it just demotivates you when you don't get any success even though you take alot effort. also how about making a new thread to give this a proper discussion? casue it is getting ways offtopic RE: Why the stories section fails (offtopic discussion of the story contest thread) - Reaper - 07-26-2009 lol, just sent a PM. Now i can write again. Hope I still have it in mind. Well, thing is that nobody registrates here to write stories but to mod LF2. There are just some within them who incidentaly(?) like to write stories. And there aren't many people who write stories in general. So its just normal that the forum isn't very active. Nevertheless its another point that the whole forum is somehow stagnating. I guess LF2 doesn't get that many new fans. After over 10 years... Maybe we need some more things like the forum mod( which is somehow also stagnating... very sad.) But what about creating an internet novel( you know, where everyone writs the story from the point of view of his character? Or did we have that already? Otherwise it could be worth a try.) Btw: strange to write it two times. And phil has to read it twice... RE: Why the stories section fails (offtopic discussion of the story contest thread) - Evil Sonidow - 07-26-2009 Both, I suppose. Perhaps LF2 at first to relate to the site. RE: Why the stories section fails (offtopic discussion of the story contest thread) - Azriel - 07-27-2009 stories section doesn't "fail". it just doesn't "succeed" as often. at least, it's obvious that if one of the stories is exceptional, it'll definitely be read and commented on (save for people who like to be quiet). it's one of those "silent success" type of work. I know lf2-global has some story going on (at least, someone's translating from hebrew to english, i haven't checked in about 1.5 months so i'm not sure if it's still going). it's half good, but at least it's not too generic (i read the first few chapters, then stopped going to to the forum) Azriel~ RE: Why the stories section fails (offtopic discussion of the story contest thread) - Reaper - 07-27-2009 yeah, I think first LF2. If it works good than maybe something else afterwards. So just a few things( I know its going offtopic again, but I am not going to open a new thread again): - do we need a map? I drew one( couldn't sleep yesterday ). Well, it helps to orientate a bit, but it makes it hard to bring in your own suggestions so I don't know. I guess its better not to have one. - Story suggestions? I have some ideas but maybe you also do. (- do LF2-fighters believe in god? Or something else? ) So yeah, I start writing the main things about internet novels in general today, then I could do the story tomorrow and start it afterwards. What do you think? Would some of you join it? Or/and advertise it in their signature? Edit: like this Spoiler (Click to View) RE: Why the stories section fails (offtopic discussion of the story contest thread) - Ascor - 07-27-2009 Joined :P that means i would join and i love the idea |
