I notice all these users posting threads titled "What is your favourite XXX" or smth like that. I used to think that these were just spammers, HUMAN spammers. But then,

I didn't believe it until I found out there was actually an LFE Bot List. And until Simoneon posted what I quoted in that "Favourite Reality TV Show" thread.

they are all bots???? cause there are a lots of threads like these... and the common things about the the thread posters is that the remain online for a short time then they never come back.

There is a pattern in the users.
Their usernames always (mostly) happen to be 2 proper names mashed together. (OK, dunno about darreinjhony, but the others, yes)
Oh, and that other thing about staying for 5 minutes and never coming back...

At spiral graphics forums there were also a few bots.
They posted section a "I am new" thread in the Genetica Animation.
They all had a name like "AshleyHenry", "JohnBoris" and so on...
The posts they posted were also like:
Hello my name is %botname%, I hoped I posted in the right section if not please mods move this into the right section.
They were nearly the same and extremely obviously bots.
Just that they posted in Genetica Animation proves it, if they should make a "I am new" it would go into the "General Discussion" section.

It's gonna have to be some extra checks on the registration form... like captcha. (MORE PHP FOR BP!!!!!!!!)

as far as I know BP already put in captchas and since then this bot problem isnt so hard anymore. But I think STM knows more here, he's the expert I guess

Normally normal CAPTCHA (with words) doesn't work... The spambots these days are SO advanced they have OCR (optical character recognition).
It'd normally be better to have a captcha with visual stuff (like sceneries).
e.g.
You have three pictures with radiobuttons below them: a desert, an aeroplane and a waterfall.
The instruction would be "Select the picture with the aeroplane."
