[BG] Quasar Incursio - Marshall - 06-05-2010
So uhm, how do I sell this new background in a disinterested LF2 community these days anyway? Especially to the most meticulous spriters around who think they will probably need this release as much as they need a scrotum amputation. Let's see how it goes... shall we?
Everything about this background just screams unrefined, to begin with. Pretty sure "ownage" is a wrong denotation and admittedly this is certainly not one of my best, still this is such a beast of a background it can eat the fearsome Green Phoenix alive. It certainly won't win anyone over if you have to inspect every single frame microscopically, though there's definitely an edge to it that you can feel it has "Marshall" stamped all over it because while lacking in detail, it certainly still has that awe inspiring vibe.
The average passer-by: Marshall's style of piece-together-lame-rips? It's so gay... We only want hawt chicks!
Well, first of all, this is certainly one of my most dynamic BG to date and secondly, it took well over a year to make.
Then you say "It's still reeks of gayness"
The thing is, homophobia is just gayer because homos are not to be scared of. When was the last time you were jogging in a park and get gang raped by a bunch of fruity men singing YMCA with teh br00tal dildo? If that occurred last week then chances are you asked them to do that because you craved it damn it!
Moving on... So what I am trying to say is don't just judge by a screenshot because by actually trying this baby, you'll be in a different dimension *oh yeah*
So do yourself a favour, download this background now, get an eyegasm and thank me later.

This background, as usual, is high-quality and realistic, especially the sun beams...
But aren't the fighters going to burn, being too close to the sun?

and screws the mind. Why is everything MOVING?!
I downloaded it, and think this:
-its too much eye-burn for my liking
-It needs more vertical room
-The animation is ok, but looks fake, for some reason (i dont know how else to explain it)
definately not your best.
even though i assume you arent including me in the "those spriters" group, i still feel somewhat insulted
i should really finish my background, then rub it in your face, as well deserved.

Anyway, back on topic. Nice background, liking the sun and even the static pose makes it look awesome. Yet another top quality background by the Marshallinator. I'm considering making a brand of chocolates called 'your first chocolate' now - seriously. That way I can enjoy the experience a whole lot more. "SHUSH GUYS DIS IS MY FIRST CHOCCYLATT". :P

maybe, but that was the intended effect. Dunno... now I wish LF2 can be in true widescreen proportions + we have 5.1 surroundsound system to feel the impact

I tried to optimise everything already, but it looks... for the lack of a better word, "dampened" when more of the fighting room is made at the expense of seeing the animation fully

I know why. At least it worked for me anyway. I originally had it shaking and it looked better. At least the initial feeling, but having something flickering at the black bars was annoying and in the end I had to chuck the idea into the bin

I really did put you into that category because I voted for you in the sprite contest :P Plus out of the 5 mods in LFE, 4 has their avas sprited by you

I downloaded it but... I'm dissapoint
-those lava...rivers/flows/whatever on the sun do look really choopy
-that big lightning shine has a crappy looping animation, it needs some more frames becoming slowly smaller at the end so it bends well with the begining of the animation
-those other flashy lightning stuff is rly annoying and physically illogical to randomly apear like that... I mean... why tha hell does it flash so much??!11
-only 2 layers of paralax-scrolling objects is abit less, I prefere more of them to make it look abit more 3D'ish, you should have seperated the sun from the background aswell, 'cuz actually that sun is alot nearer than all those little stars far in the background
-walkable area on the z-axis could be bigger
but other than that it has some nice graphics, so...
It's good, better than most peoples here could do it, but I expected better from you, what means I'm putting you on a higher level than any other lfe member when it comes to background creations
