Iphone development - lemonhead - 06-14-2011 As a lot of ppl are asking for Little Fighter and especially Hero Fighter to be playable on the Iphone, I'm thinking about programming a LF like game for the Iphone/Ipad. (To be honest it's not only a idea anymore. )It goes without saying that I don't want to simply copy LF2 or anything like that. There's plenty of room for new ideas from the community, beginning with new charakters/skills/settings and gameplay. However before going into further development I'd like to ask you guys what you think about it.
RE: Iphone development - Bamboori - 06-14-2011 how far can you use the iphone controls? can you use shaking or truning the iphone for movements? otherwise the screen might get spammed by button icons... RE: Iphone development - Boop - 06-14-2011 (06-14-2011, 06:05 PM)Bamboori Wrote: how far can you use the iphone controls? I don't think that shaking or turning the iphone is a better control scheme than on screen controls, which I think also suck. To be perfectly honest, I think it is impossible to create a non-sh**** control scheme for a game like lf2 on a touch screen device. Look at SF4, it doesn't have a z-axis and the controls are still really annoying. Look at all the 2d platformers, they are annoying to play as well. Also if you do decide to create this, I'd advise against even relating your game to LittleFighter. It's quite easy to get your app taken off the market by apple. Since U1 owns the rights to littlefighter and you'll be making money off this, I'm sure they'll go after you. RE: Iphone development - lemonhead - 06-14-2011 @control This is - of course - quite a problem. The good news I've got an idea how to solve it ![]() Just as an example : ![]() There are a lot of buttons on the screen, yet everything is clearly arranged. About SF4: You're right. But I don't intent to spam the screen. In fact the solution I was thinking of would get along with only the movement controls in the bottom left corner. I'm doing some screenpositioning right now. Maybe I'll upload some scratches. @rights I didn't plan to call the game "Little Fighter 3" or something like that. But as far as I know something similiar is allowed (as long as I don't copy anything). Latter said I didn't want to copy anything anyway. Mainly I just want to create a game with the unique gameplay of Little Fighter Of course it would be cool to feature some of the original characters as easter eggs.Do you have more information about the licence? RE: Iphone development - SahilJ - 06-15-2011 Hey Pocket Legends has got a similar interface, have a look at that too RE: Iphone development - lemonhead - 06-15-2011 Thanks, I will do that. If you have any ideas or suggestions I'll gladly read them
RE: Iphone development - Hero destroyer - 06-15-2011 I know a game that use stickman to fight.(i don't have screenshots) It has lots of button, including moves. On the left, there are the move button. Make sure it's big so it is easy to control. RE: Iphone development - Bamboori - 06-15-2011 btw: how exactly do you plan to program it? RE: Iphone development - lemonhead - 06-15-2011 Well.. we all know apple... there are tons of rules one has to keep in mind when writing an app for the appstore. If you're talking about the programming - language it is objective-c, a little bit c++ and openGL ES. Did that answer your question? SahilJ adviced me to give more information about what I want to do, so that more people would read through the stuff. However right now I just wanted to have some feedback if there is even a desire for a new LF game. I myself had that desire ( yes, like you all I loved to play that game ) There are so many ideas out there (and in my head) I would love to put into a game. Since the progress of the original LF 2 had come to an end it would be a shame to just let them be some mere ideas in some topics (which might be used in a mod for LF some day - or not). And even if someone comes up with a great idea for a mod his/her creativity is bound to the engine of LF2. That is why I want to come up with my own game, where I can realize all the awesome things the community has thought of. A good example for this would be the Zombie Mod Imagine this as a Halloween Special in the app store!! I'm sure there would be thousands of players who'd love it. So , if you have a great idea or just a small feature you would like to see in LF for the Iphone (let's call it like this for the moment ) just post it. Mainly I want to have some discussion around the topic "Little Fighter for the Iphone - good idea/bad idea?, fears, hopes" and so on. This is just for some rough impressions. The next step would be to discuss certain features and further developing.
RE: Iphone development - Boop - 06-15-2011 @licence: Well as long as you don't include the original characters as Easter eggs I'm sure you'll be fine .TBH, I just don't think a touch screen is ideal for a fighting game. SF4 controls are about as good as they can get imo, and I still wouldn't want to play that if I could play it on a ps3/360/arcade. Maybe, I'm just old and grumpy and have no concept of what "kids" these days enjoy. I mean I saw kids playing fps games on their iphones on a bus once, the concept seems insane to me. I tried playing them and almost threw the damn thing at a wall out of frustration. Also you can't forget, one of the greatest appeals of lf2 was the modding factor, something which you cannot do if you make an iOS game. |
