Programs stop working - Daymio - 06-18-2011 guys i gotta problem... my pc was very slow so i re-installed Windows XP yesterday... and it looked good... then i downloaded mozilla, everything normal, i leave , start computer again and mozilla won't work.. i download again and works... after leaving pc and coming back SAME thing same thing with one more program... and now it happend to my HOLY COD2 MP and i am about to cry if any other program shuts down... PLEASE HELP!!! RE: Programs stop working - Hero destroyer - 06-19-2011 I think when you re-install the computer, a special program was given.(Sorry but I don't know what name it is because my uncle use it, I didn't) The program makes everything turns back if you don't shut it off. Example: -If you copy LF2, and you don't shut it off. LF2 will be gone when you open your computer again. -If you delete a file and you don't shut it off. The file will be still there if you open the PC again. Understandable? RE: Programs stop working - Monolith - 06-19-2011 Try every useful file that you need write to CD or DVD,and then INSTAL windows, thats the easiest way RE: Programs stop working - Sonic Boom - 06-19-2011 This can be a result of a large number of malwares or some sort of partition virus which may soon destroy your hardisk. Actually this problem also happened to me about two three times but, luckily the hardisk was in guarantee. I think you should consult a computer fixer or the company's man to work on it and fix it. RE: Programs stop working - SirFrog - 06-19-2011 If you wish to check whether this is the work of malware or not, try booting from some kind of Linux disc and then run a virus check on the hard drive from the disc. Don't ask me for details, I've never done it, but I know some of it in theory. Any Linux-users here to back me up? RE: Programs stop working - bashscrazy - 06-19-2011 If it's maleware - try malwarebytes anti malware. and as sirfrog mentioned you can try a linux disc.. when my computer had a SVCHOST.EXE memory leakage thing I used one - Avira AntiVir Rescue System you can download it here also the instructions for it that I used are oldish but gets the job done from here - under the SUPER REMOVAL spoiler RE: Programs stop working - Boop - 06-19-2011 You have one of those viruses that infects exes and actually modifies them. So if you backup any of your already installed programs and then run them, you'll just reinfect everything again. What you need to do is reinstall windows and not run anything from the previous infected system and just get everything from a legit source. Or you could try messing about with random anti-viruses to see if they are smart enough to remove the PE header and restore the original entry point of the PE(i.e clean the files and not just delete them). Try http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd Edit @below: ... if that works i'll eat a broom. RE: Programs stop working - bashscrazy - 06-19-2011 If what Lord Silva says is true then maybe it's like the same effect as XP antivirus or win 7 anti virus or w/e and you can try installing this fix.reg into your registry. idk if it will work doe. so ye (Click to View) RE: Programs stop working - Kevin - 06-26-2011 I think it is what is called Deep Freeze. It's not a virus/malware/any harmful forms. It's instead a way to save your computer from viruses - everything runs on temporary memory and your harddisk data will remain as it was. In other words, no matter what you do you will not change anything after you reboot your computer. I remember computers in my school used that to prevent students from downloading/inserting games because they make comps run slower and might bring viruses. Then I noticed a grey circle icon at the right of the start-bar. It was the Deep Freeze program.. tried using the Task Manager and opened the Processes tab and found something called DeepFreeze or something like that. After I click on End Process, the deep freeze icon disappear and my tetris game didn't disappear .Sometimes harddisk are designed to Deep Freeze. Perhaps your harddisk is divided into C:\ and D:\ , and the C:\ is the one which is Deep frozen (to prevent Windows from getting any problems), so it's worth trying to install things on D:\ (or any other disks if there is any, just try ^^ ) Just note: I am not sure :') . RE: Programs stop working - Daymio - 06-26-2011 thx for advices.. i found the problem... Generic8 Trojan... nasty old fella... ehhehe... but i got him ![]() Solved |
