You have just arrived in another day. You are going to learn martial arts because you've just heard the rumor of this mysterious Julian who is said to have been attacking some villages for the last few years. Well, information always come very slowly to small villages like yours. It's fortunate he has not yet come and attack your village. You get yourself ready and go to the training place, which is pretty far away. Well, a twenty minutes of running is just a warm up! There you meet the master.

Master: "Welcome! My name is Dennis. I have also heard about Julian. That's why I have been training people for free now. You can join us, but once you do, you must follow our training schedules."

Anyways, you don't have many things to do in your days, so you decided to join the martial arts.

You received some trials from master Dennis, and soon after, you have started your first training with other students. You got some great lessons with Dennis.

Dennis: "Have you ever learned martial arts before?"
Firen: "Not at all. But I often watched people training when I was a child."

Dennis talked so friendly that you enjoyed talking to him like talking to a friend.

Dennis: "You know, I think you have a good talent. I'm excited to train you even harder." - he said with a funny smile and glare that makes you don't feel pretty good even knowing you have talent. But you don't want to miss this chance, of course, and you really did train harder.

A few weeks later, you have already surpassed some of the students. This is a surprise even to Dennis. Why, it's a surprise to you too!

Some next day, when you are still sleeping. It becomes noisier and noisier outside. Then you feel dizzy. You rushed outside to see what happens.

What a surprise that day brought to you. People were running here and there. You saw a big dark creature standing in distance. You feel even dizzier now. You feel like your head is sucked by the creature. You're standing still, being able to do or say anything in confusion, when suddenly a man hit you. After getting some consciousness, you noticed that he is Dennis. He said to you,

Dennis: "It's Julian! We must run!"

You have no choice. In your confusion, you just followed Dennis. You need about two minutes to notice that you are headed to the training place. And you just begin to ask yourself: Why did Dennis come here? Just to save me? It's a risky thing to do, as he doesn't know Julian as much as you do.

But just then Dennis told you about Julian. What he knows about Julian.
Dennis: "Julian is a mysterious creature created by the souls of the dead. The more it kills, the stronger it will be. The souls of the people it kill will join it." - surprised but confused, you decide to just listen - "I heard people has ever beaten it a few times, but he was just reborn a few years after."

Firen: "What, so that creature will be reborn even if someone kills him?"
Dennis: "Yes. You be careful. If you get too close to him you can get sucked and your soul will be forced to join him. It means death."
Firen: "What will you do? You cannot even get too close to him."
Dennis: "Using focused energy, we can attack from some distance. I'm going to lure him outside the village, or at least decoying him while the people get to safety."
Firen: "You're the one who must be careful then!"
Dennis: "You go to the north. You will find a path to Calawu, a village surrounded by woods. You will meet someone important there."
Firen: "Huh?"

And off he goes. You wonder why he asked you to go to Calawu. You don't even know where it is. It's north from here, that's the only thing you know. Who is this important person anyway?

You go to the north, not knowing where you are headed. You just hope you are to find a place called Calawu, and meet someone important. Just then you realized that you don't know anyone outside. You thought to yourself: How would I meet anyone any important to me?


You also think about that focused energy on your way to Calawu. Dennis said you can attack someone from distance using focused energy. He has taught you how to focus your energy, and you have been wondering what that is for. But now, you are wondering even more curiously: How do I use that energy?

After walking for hours, finally something relieving comes out. You saw a sign saying 'Calawu - 500 footsteps'. Guess it means 500 footsteps from where you are. You follows the stone path from that sign. You counted your footsteps. But yeesh, after your 223rd step, the path ended. Anyway, you can tell where north is, by seeing the sun. It's afternoon now, so you just decide to walk north.

Still counting your footsteps, you feel something cold. You are entering a jungle. Well, the path is now clear again. There is no stone path but the path is cleared out of trees and bushes. You are not sure though, whether the jungle is safe or not. You sped along, forgetting about counting your footsteps.


Then you feel it again. Something cold in from the inner side of the jungle. And it is coming for you now.

You went to where the cold air came from. You meet a man, clearing his path from dense bushes. He saw you and then he shouted towards you: "Are you going to Calawu?"

You gladly said yes, even though you don't know what kind of place it is. The man explained that the path to Calawu is the one he is clearing out. Man, even the sign is covered by bushes. These bushes are really wild. You thanked the man who's still clearing the bushes and go to the path he showed to you. You eventually arrive in Calawu.

And now what? I have not met anyone I even recognize so far, you thought. But after that long way here, you immediately chose to lay down and rest for a bit.

You'd gone slept. An hour passed just like that. The man who was clearing the path has come back and he saw you sleeping. He wake you up.
Man: "What are you doing here? Let's go to my place if you want a rest."
Firen: "Wow, thanks! Who are you anyway?"
Man: "My name is Freeze."
Firen: "Thanks a lot, Freeze. I'm Firen."
Freeze: "I can't let you rest in that place."

That moment when he said that, you noticed that your shirt is now really dirty. Heck, I should choose a better place for a rest next time!

Firen: "Uhh… Well I will need a rest for tonight. For now, I only need to clean my shirt?"

Freeze laughed and tell you where you can do that. He also lend you a shirt of his.

You feel lucky to have a friend already in the unknown village in Calawu. Freeze said that he is going to train people to focus energy and release them in a ranged attack. He asked whether you want to join them. "Of course!" is the sentence that comes out. That's a great coincidence!

Firen: "Of course! You can do that, you must be a great martial artist aren't you?"
Freeze: "Using energy is a different thing to martial arts. But... I am pretty good at it as well."

So this is why it feels so different to martial arts. They two are different things. Means, one can be good at using focused energy even without mastering martial arts.

Freeze ask you to follow him. During the next few weeks, you are learning how to use focused energy. Amazingly, Freeze says the same thing as Dennis did. "You are very talented."

One day during a training, Freeze asked where you came from. You explained what happened to your village, and about Dennis. Then, you remembered what Dennis said about Julian and tell everything to Freeze. He doesn't seem to believe you a hundred percent, but surely he is concerned about what you have said that day.

Speaking of Dennis, you started to feel like Freeze is the important person he was talking about, just because Freeze can teach you how to use the focused energy. Is that it? Only that? Well, it's pretty obvious. He was in a rush so whatever he said he might have not think much about it.

Freeze talked to you a bit later.
Freeze: "You know, I'm bothered with your story. What is Julian up to? Is he destroying everything just to kill more people? He… someone must stop him, right?"
Firen: "Yee, I think so. I don't know as much of him as you do. It's what Dennis said to me when he left. I'm worried about him even knowing he is a great martial artist and he can use focused energy too."
Freeze: "People who use focused energy in battle. We call ourselves shamans."
Firen: "Right. He's a shaman too, despite his great melee combat skills. But I'm worried because he is facing Julian."
Freeze: "I think he know pretty much about Julian. It's what he need to survive. I wonder why he did not tell you more about Julian. I'm pretty curious about it."
Firen: "Well…"
Freeze: "Don't you feel we are strong?"
Firen: "Well, not me. I think you are strong."
Freeze: "You have mastered shaman skills. You probably are as strong as me!"

You don't think so, but he continues to talk so you have no chance to say you don't agree.

Freeze: "When you told me about Julian, I started to think about defeating him. You know, to bring peace. Don't you want to do that too? You should, your village has been destroyed! Aren't you going to make a revenge?"

You were shocked by what he said. That's right! You have never thought of defeating him because he is so powerful, but who knows? You might just need to learn more about him. Dennis said that people in the past have defeated Julian too.

Firen: "Freeze, I have never thought about it. Now you mention it, I want it badly. I think we must learn more about this mysterious Julian."
Freeze: "That's the spirit! I know where we can learn the truth. Shall we leave tomorrow?"
Firen: "Gladly. Where is this place anyway?"
Freeze: "We will go to The Temple of Lore. The monks there have great knowledge of the world. Perhaps they can provide us a way to defeat Julian."

You finally decided to go to the temple. In your way to the temple, you were attacked by some dark creatures. They look like Julian, but they are smaller (anything I meant is Justin). There were about five of them. After seeing their skills, you and Freeze decided to run. You are trained well so at least you have the stamina to keep running. But Freeze has not.

You decided to lure them. You told Freeze to hide for a while.
Firen: "We will meet at the temple. Don't worry about me. I won't last."
Freeze: "Thanks, Firen."

And you run to a visible place while Freeze hide behind a tree and bushes. The attackers immediately chase you. You run through gaps between trees, dense bushes, slippery stones, and many other difficult paths. Finally the attackers are gone. You climb upwards and arrived at the temple, where you meet Freeze.

You both enter the temple to find the monks. And this is when you learn the truth - about yourself, about Freeze, and about Julian.

Monk: "I am confused on where to start. There is so many things I must tell you if you are going to face Julian. You will see so many people believe the wrong facts about Julian. First, if you want to defeat Julian, I must tell you this. No one has ever defeated it."

Firen: "What? I heard people have defeated it a few times before, but it is reborn."

Monk: "Julian has never been defeated by anyone. It is so powerful, people could only escape, if they could. People feared Julian most. Some developed stories full of lie, to give people hope to defeat Julian. About Julian defeated a few times, it's one of these stories.'

Freeze: "That's just seem better to me. At least Julian cannot be reborn if anyone can kill him."

Monk: "Perhaps, but who knows if he would be reborn? It's a mystery, no one knows. At least until someone defeats Julian. And it might be you, Firen and Freeze. Ah, about Julian. He cannot grow any stronger by capturing the souls of the people he killed. But he can absorb the energy of the souls. That energy, when released, will produce an incredible power capable of destroying a whole city, and thus releasing the souls from the living. Julian absorbs them only to destroy a place after another. Julian can absorb souls. Even from a living creature."

Firen: "I must have felt it when Julian came to my village. I felt like my head is being sucked to him."

Monk: "It is very dangerous. If Julian successfully absorbs part of your soul, you will gradually turn into a dark creature and lose control of your body."

Firen: "Well we've found some of them attacking in the jungle! So they were humans whose souls were absorbed by Julian?"

Monk: "Unfortunately, yes."

There was a short silence afterward. Sure, you and Freeze are afraid of Julian after hearing this. Turn into those terrible creatures?? Surely, it's better to die. And the monk nodded - they actually wanted to die. Perhaps even is the thing that has made them attacked you.

Monk: "About yourselves. I'm sure you have not discovered yet. You two can become powerful shamans. Firen, you are imbued with the power of Fire, and Freeze, you with the power of Ice. You two are very rare shamans. This might be a great chance to defeat Julian, at last!"

Firen: "What?"
Monk: "Try to remember each other. Freeze, do you feel the warm feeling when you are around Firen?"
Freeze: "Now that you mention it, yes. I think at last I figured out why I got these feelings."
Monk: "About you, Firen?"
Firen: "Well… I feel something like cold air when Freeze gets near to me too."

Monk: "You both have a very special talent. No one can teach you. You must discover it by yourself, by trying and experimenting with your energy. If you can master this, I believe you can even defeat Julian!"

Firen: "Great. So now we might be the only ones who have hope to defeat Julian."
Freeze: "I have never imagine something like this."
Firen: "I don't know whether this fact is good or bad news for us."

Monk: "If you are going to face Julian, you can come to me. I can feel where Julian is by meditating. I will show you the way."
Freeze: "Thank you very much. We are going to work on our… special abilities."
Monk: "Good luck. I will pray for your success."

You and Freeze walked outside the temple and start experimenting with focused energy. You tried to release your energy very quickly, but the result is just a bigger blast of an original shaman's attack. You tried to release it smoothly, and barely anything happened. You tried to focus with your hand, but the result is the same. You try and try and try… and guess what comes? Night.

It's already night. The monk let you rest in the temple. During the next few days, you and Freeze were hopelessly experimenting even the stupidest things to do. It's really boring and tiring.

Then suddenly, there's another attack by the dark creatures again. The monks heard this and four of them come out from the temple. You, Freeze and the monks fought the creatures. It's the best thing you can do for them - end their pain from being corrupted by Julian.

One of them nearly get you. In the dangerous situation, you still managed to focus and use your shaman skills, and for the first time, you blast out fire with the release of your energy. The monk leader immediately said.

Monk: "You just did it! Don't you forget how you did that."
Firen: "Uhh.. It's pretty weird, and I think I have forgotten just now."

Then you tried a few times but failed.

Freeze: "Perhaps it's easier to use when you really need it? Try to think that you really need it this time."
Firen: "Hey, easy to say!"

Suddenly something hits your back, pretty hard. You turned around and start focusing your energy again. Then you realized it's the monk.

Monk: "Well, now you remember?"
Firen: "Ah… I think I focused the energy in a different way."

Trying a few times, you managed to bring out some sparks. But you cannot explain how it is done. There is no word that can explain it to Freeze. The monk then reveals more facts about it.

Monk: "According to the Tome of the Temple, there is more. When Julian absorbs two similar souls at once, the two will combine, fusing into one individual. I am sure you both are similar, able to do it."
Firen: "Becoming one?"
Monk: "One body, one split soul. Your souls combined. Even though I doubt it, it is worth a try in case Julian got your souls. We can't let it happen, but still an anticipation is worth it."
Freeze: "You doubt it?"
Monk: "The tome is a book written by unknown. Some facts are correct but we have find some inaccurate facts. In the end, only the logical facts are true, and souls combining into one seems to be illogical, but it might be a last hope in critical situations."
Firen: "Alright."


After a week experimenting and practicing, you can already shoot fireballs quickly. Freeze can also freeze things from fair distances. The ability was amazing even to yourself. You were very excited to use them in real fights. Finally you and Freeze decided to take on Julian, even it means risking your life. The monk appreciated the will and guided you to Julian. He told you that stronger souls are harder to absorb. So what he meant is never give up, never lose hope, keep trying your best and believe in victory.

The monk guided you to Queen Island. There you met Dennis and a man called Davis.
Dennis: "You are here!"
Firen: "Glad to see you're safe!"
Dennis: "This is Davis, more than just a friend of mine. I see you are here to stop Julian too?"
Firen: "Thanks to you."

After a few minutes thinking whether to attack Julian or not, the monk said.
Monk: "Let's begin. We have come far."

The monk attacked Julian from his back, forcing everyone to start the battle.

Whenever you get near to Julian, you feel that dizzy feeling again. That's a good alarm to keep your distance from Julian, to avoid your soul being corrupted. Even your blazing fire cannot burn Julian's skin, and Freeze cannot freeze him. Julian seems to be affected by the attacks, but not much. Suddenly Julian begin to glow with light purple energy.

Monk: "Be careful, he is releasing souls to attack us!"

A moment after Julian releases some kind of big purple orbs. It must be what the monk have just said - souls released by Julian as an attack. You feel great power from Julian's attacks. But everyone keep attacking Julian in every chance.

After focusing for a while, Julian releases a huge soul bomb. You and Freeze managed to avoid that but it hits everyone else.

That's when you feel desperate. The feeling of losing the final and greatest battle. The feeling of starting to believe that it is impossible to defeat Julian. This loss leads you to the biggest loss - when you start losing hope, stops believing in victory and starting to give up, your soul becomes vulnerable.

You are having the same feeling again - suck by Julian, dizzy and be unable to think clearly. One thing you noticed - Freeze seem to be experiencing the same thing.

Suddenly you wake up from your despair.
Firen: "Come on, Freeze! We still have one last hope!"

Freeze seemed to be surprised but then nodded quickly. You know you both feel even dizzier as time passes by. You gestured to him and you both come running to each other, focusing the energy that remains and concentrate on each other.

And what the monk said is true.

Suddenly everything flashed red - the tome is right. You feel your soul combined with Freeze's, with a bang of fire, but also with columns of ice - even the air could freeze along with the bang. You don't even need to talk to communicate each other. You can understand whatever Freeze is thinking. In fact, he is thinking that you must also be able to understand what he is thinking right now. You become one split soul with one body - so this is what that means. Anyway, there's no time to think anymore. Julian's right there ready to attack.

Great battle it was. You feel much stronger with your new body - and soul. You feel like all your energy is replenished. Julian releases another huge soul bomb, but you are able to match its power as you blast out streams of fire and ice with your energy.

After a really long and tiring battle, Julian seemed to be running out of souls. Finally, you thought. It's time to finish this, Freeze thought. We will be the first one to beat Julian, you thought. You two share your thoughts, all in below two seconds. And in the next, you are already releasing your final blast of energy towards the not anymore powerful Julian.

And there you got him.

You and Freeze have known what will happen next. Your souls have been corrupted by Julian. Thus, you will soon or pretty soon turn into those dark creatures.
Your thought: No way are we going to let it happen!
Freeze's: I know only one way

Somehow you cannot understand what Freeze is thinking this time. He just led you to a cliff. Soon you find out what he's up to.
Freeze: Well? If we die, everything's over. Think it's better to turn than to jump off?

And so, you and Freeze, as called Firzen, ends your own adventures there.
