alf2 - current state: louis' DA action - YinYin - 08-25-2011

i have allowed louis' thunder punches to be executed even without enough mana and thus enabled him to do them energy less:

alf2 - current state: louis low mp run attack

there is one little problem that is bugging me
when pressing JA simultaneously during running louis will always perform the energy less dashing punch, which is good because you can save up energy for your phoenix palms if you like

but for his running DA action i have a choice of what i want him to do
currently i have decided for a super useful running grab:

alf2 - current state: louis run grab
little mp use and quick execution give louis quite an advantage for he has the choice to either very quickly grab or punch his opponent away

for consistencies sake i feel like i should give his DA action the same energy less punch as the JA action
so he can save up mp on both at any time
but then again thats really boring

what should his running DA action be?

DJ is not available to me
only DA and JA

i could however make you punch in D^J at once during running to get the run grab
but thats way more uncomfortable than DA

It sounds a bit cheesy, but what if Louis could perform the run grab if he has more than half of his mp. If he's below the half he performs the punch.
The "border" doesn't have to be half, I just used it as an example.

However, I'd choose the DA action to be the punch, it fits beter into the... uh... input-flow. Haha.
On top of that I find the run grab somehow a bit unfair and unbalanced.

Running grab makes more since imo. For a energy-less punch...I'd use that as a counter. (At least that's what I did in my DCing spare time)

What Lauli says... I think Grabbing is unfair even for original louis d^j... So i choose other one.

IMO a running grab wouldn't be too overpowered at all. Wouldn't be very hard to dodge if Louis can only use it during running, and if a human enemy knows he has this move, he can pretty much try to avoid it completely.
And a simple grabbing attack against multiple enemies isn't very useful, so I guess a running grab should still be only used sparingly.
