Should chars have mirrors - symaroth1 - 12-27-2011
When i download chars from the mainsite and forums they have no backwards version should we get people to make mirrors for thier chars
or should we do mirrors for ourself after we download???

Before the releasing the 2.0a; (obviously) custom chars didn't have mirrors. But after then char creators started to add "mirrors" to their char releases.
Of course the new creators should add mirrors; i think they already are doing it; they know what to do, i guess..
And for old ones; it is load of work for Mod team to update all dem for mirrors; not so necassary..
So it seems like you have to add mirrors for old custom chars...

I get it but why should we do it instead of the creators of the char

I highly doubt one could make them come back by telling them they need to do more work on their characters :P

my suggestion: I can make a small article (or link to an article) from top of the characters database on LFE about this program. I cant test it out right now, but will test it out in a week - if it`s just plug and play and you got the mirror image then the guys who download the char can do it - and me in person doubt that everybody plays the newest version of LF2 (like I still play LF2v1.9c since it loads a lot lot faster ...)

In my opinion, i don't think they should add mirrors. That's one of the main reasons to download quick.
Example: One sprite should be 8kbs, but two sprites(including mirrors) will be more than 12kbs. Think of if it's 500 sprites sheets. If you have to download mirrors, you will have to download 1000 sprites sheets.(That's a lot)
Another reason is that it will load sloooooooooooooooower. I don't know what's with your computer but mine works fine even without mirrors.(Well, I used to have this problem once with my trashed PC).
Last but not least, it will be unnecessary for some people like me, and it will also waste some time, too.

I'd rather say that I will go on without mirrors because mine is not that new graphic card and crap-and-all. it works for me properly without mirrors. I even delete the mirrors from downloaded chars to save space :P But I highly recommend people who need mirrors to use that application Razen told about.
