Err, I don't know what you're talking about but if you try to say that you try to post something but it wasn't posted. Just one question:
Are you sure the Internet-connection is on?(This happens to me a lot of times, I sometimes have to re-type a post when I click post and the Internet went off)

RE: post bug - Silverthorn - 01-10-2012

Allow me to rip apart your post / explain the details of it:

blablablabla boring and irrelevant stuff blablablabla
From time to time, the server (aka. the thing lfe runs on) itself is not able to handle requests (=stuff you send such as posts or other information). This can be caused by many of such requests (then, the connection can time out because the server isn't able to respond in a set amount of time) or the server simply refuses to do a certain task because it can't touch this handle it. Error 500 (Internal Server Error) is just when something on the server-side goes wrong and isn't specified any further.

(01-10-2012, 10:31 AM)the guy Wrote:  port 80???
Every Internet-address that starts with "http://", goes over port 80 (or 8080). It's just some connection from your computer to the internet.

Server-related.

(01-10-2012, 10:31 AM)the guy Wrote:  sever error log?
I read "severe error log" at first. And yes, those logs are severely ugly :P
Contain a whole lot of unnecessary info. Not anything one wants to look into anyways xD

Java. Runescape. THIS! IS! LFE! :p

Unrelated to the server. Totally unrelated. It's about as connected to it like a lost button from a shirt. Or apples and rainbows. Or quantummechanical approximation of the statistically expected position of an electron in a carbon-solid-state-body and why your fingers feel resistance when touching objects. Oh, wait, the last two are connected, nvm.

(01-10-2012, 10:31 AM)the guy Wrote:  help me i cannot send new replys
Apparently, you can create new threads. The logic behind it posting posts and posting threads is the same. Therefore, you can send replies. Therefore, this statement is false.

And, by the way, this problem appears randomly (and by "random", I mean statistically "random". Can't really predict when it will happen, but it will happen).

Actually, if you get an error-page (not connected to the internet, timeout, etc), just refresh [F5] and taste the rainbow accept the dialog asking you if you want to send the data again, and you're done.

so i think this is what was causing my problem earlier.. i didnt want to bring it up since its not a big deal. but sometimes when i finish writing my post and hit "post reply" i get an empty post with no texts.. even if i try to reload.

RE: post bug - The Lost Global Mod - 01-10-2012

Dear mr. smartass-phoenix,

The debug crap was just a comparison from "the guy" between the error message he got when posting and a normal error message he gets when playing runescape.
if you have time to troll members, do me a big favor and read posts more than once and try to interpret what the poster has written. Not everyone has your word-power and you should know that.

Apparently if he is bothers enough to open up this thread, he seems to have a problem. So does he know have to make tons of screenshots to actually show you what problems he had and what exactly he pressed, like self-control in screenshots so to speak, just so you move your a** and fix the problem?

While i agree that this problem might appear randomly, the fact that "the guy", "prince_freeza" and "xmfcx" seem to experience this one more than just once in a while, it can't be all that random can it?
I have seen random code parts flocking around the forum sometimes too.

If you can't fix it on your own, get from your high-hourse and let the team from mybb have a look at it. They might have experienced that kind of stuff already before. If you feel too ashamed to do it yourself, ask if MH can do it for you.

@Somin: I hope that he is/was high at that moment, otherwise I am starting to question my once idolized admin and friend.

P.S: Yes I'm a dick.

RE: post bug - Silverthorn - 01-10-2012

Now, why am I even bothering writing up a justification post? Whatever, here we go.

1) Java. The only place java runs on is on the irc-page. Debug-stuff. Local stuff that one can get when an application crashes (ON THEIR OWN COMPUTER). Now: I don't see a connection between that and a remote/server error. If you see one: Fine, then enlighten me! Ranting around might help you in putting some emotion into your posts but it doesn't help me. At all.

2) Error 500. Again. In case I wasn't clear before, take a look at this:
quickly drawn up, but illustrates the hierarchy fairly well (Click to View)
Any Member can access the top level, mods and admins the second as well. With FTP-access, you can mess with various php-scripts etc. The database lies beneath, allowing one to deal with the life of this site; everything one posts in here. The server gives the basis to actually build a site such as LFE onto it. ANYTHING BENEATH IS NOT IN MY PERMISSION RANGE. Am I the CTO of alfahosting? No, I am not able to manage the sites of my (paying) clients from bottom-up. Do I have access to the logs stored somewhere on a separate part of the server? No. Can I look into it thus? No. Can I fix it? No. Is the server standing in my room? No. Can I actually get ahold of what the server is doing right now? You know the answer: no.
Again, Error 500 says that the server itself encountered an error. "500" is the most generic error-code in that matter, it plainly says "We have a problem.". And, once again, I HAVE NO INFLUENCE AS TO HOW TO FIX IT. This is the job of alfahosting's technical personal, to keep the server running 24/7.

3) MyBB is the harbor for anything forum-related. This is not forum-related, this is hardware-related. And if you don't have a cluster of servers that are being able to jump in whenever one throws an error (that, of course has its price), you will inevitably encounter such problems. Fine, kick some technical assistant into their elongated back, they can't prevent a statistically RANDOM EVENT happening from one second to the other. These "code-parts", as you call them, are entirely unrelated to it.

4) Regarding the issue of not being able to recover the data once submitted (after such an error, that is), it is technically possible to add a feature which will back-up your post-data every X-seconds. However, MH has once mentioned that we're running at pretty much the limit of data-transfer; and such scripts can be pretty server- and traffic-intensive. Therefore, I cannot guarantee if this feature will ever be implemented under the present circumstances.

Hope I was clearer this time. If you have anything constructive to say, say it. If you want to take a piss into somebody else's cornflakes, go to a restroom instead.

For me, it sometimes double-posts my posts like my previous post in this thread.

Sometimes when i press send button, it says: "can't upload file or large amount of data" kinda thing(i don't exactly remember).

Sometimes i write a post and when i try to send it, it says "the message is missing" and when i come back, it empities my writings:P.

Ofcourse these may be because of opera that i'm currently and generally using as a browser which currently and generally runs on my phone but this is it.. I kinda learnt how to live with all them problems...
edit: bp ninja action:P
and @Phil: I think bp didn't gone trough a troll state in there. He just made some humour while he was trying to keep his "politeness".
Thats what i saw in bp's firs post...
If testuser would be here, he would fix all these problems...

RE: post bug - Kevin - 01-11-2012

Double post happens in most forums lol, and it sucks in the ones which don't allow you to delete your message.
The other bugs never happen to me though. I'm using google chrome.
