Windows 8 - Electric2Shock - 11-13-2012

Windows 8 has been released. I want to know what you think of it.

RE: Windows 8 - A-Man - 11-13-2012

IMO, windows is dying. XP is the best till now (my personal opinion, though some people may agree that 7 is quite impressive). Windows Vista was crap (and almost everyone will agree with me) and 7 was good. Well, I didn't see windows 8 yet, but from the name, i can sense some stupidity; Windows 7, 8 then wat? 9!?!? I am afraid they are gonna call the new xbox |Xbox 720" as some people call it Facepalm Guess Linux is the future now! (NINTENDO!)

RE: Windows 8 - YinYin - 11-13-2012

I don't get either the hype nor the anger

to me it's just a touch and performance update to 7

if your windows runs smooth and you don't have any touch capability theres no reason to switch
if you do benefit from from better performance and touch compatibility it probably deserves the praise
(from what I can tell the normal desktop view is still there)

no reason to hate on something you don't need - seriously
save your money and be happy
what did you expect?

I haven't tested it yet but will be able to do so soon - after all I have a touch+pen convertible which is a perfect fit

Windows 8 don't have start button instead it has the start screen. Liked the picture password and we have to close a window by dragging it from the top. Using it in laptop and desktop is not so good but its awesome in tablet.
All over good  !

RE: Windows 8 - Dr. Time - 11-14-2012

My view-
I would actually prefer Windows 7/or older versions in PC/laptops.I got used to them (having start button and all) and so I will feel it easier for me.
But,Windows 8 is preferable in tablets/touch screen devices.I would like to use it in tablets but in PCs,I'll use Windows 7/older versions.

Because eventually I will be forced to upgrade and use this sh*t. I'm sure when that happens people will have reverse engineered windows8 to work just like windows 7, but it'd still annoy me. Because screw this stupid sh*t. Almost everything about it is god damn terrible apart from the underlying performance updates. They are locking bootloaders and restricting up access and all sorts of crap, yes today you can by-pass all that (except if you are using Windows RT, where you can't run unrestricted things) but it's a step in a bad direction.

TL;DR f*** change

I cannot remember being forced to use or upgrade anything
I still have an xp machine

I'm using windows 8 since 1,5 month and i think it's awesome. (I have a laptop that doesn't support touch input) You have all the things that win7 already have and more. Its Start screen i fully customisable. Just right click to a folder or exe and pin it to start.

An functionality:
For example you are in a situation like this and you have to open a folder from your desktop:

In win 7, you have to pull the windows around and open folder from desktop.
But in win8 you can click the left down of the screen and choose the folder you want. It is really useful.
Okay, normal start menu could do the same but older start menu is so small:P

here is my start screen:D:

And New Apps:
There are very useful apps that normal pc users can use. I generally use 2 of them: Calendar and Message apps.

and you can also use them while working with other things. You can quickly switch from apps to desktop by clicking the left upper corner of screen.

With these you can answer your messages even while watching yor movies.

My conclusion: It is not slower than win7 and even faster. Apps are not just for tablet users. Its design is better with smooth window corners. Once you start adding things to start screen you will feel the difference.

I used win98, winxp, win7 and now i'm with win8. I haven't installed vista ever because of its known lack of performance but win8 is a good OS to move in.
And yes they are my screenshots
