I don't think that the infection had came from that thread. Maybe Avast had detected it from your pc.

Even I use Avast but I didn't get any warning when I opened that thread.
Maybe you should scan your pc to fix that problem.

I also did not get anything. I use avast! 7. (Pretty good antivirus)

An infection IS a malware/virus issue.
An infection is a simply getting a virus onto your PC, and running it. A virus is a special type of malware that duplicates itself, thus infecting other programs. (for example every time you run your browser, the virus will also run etc.)

Hmmm, Malwarebyte's doesn't get angry at me when I open up that thread, and virustotal.com neither... probably a false-positive...
