I think you might have the problem similiar to how any pop-up, like a log-in pop-up window comes out and turns into an ad. You could try getting AdBlock for your browser.

Are you both using Android?
And are you trying to view lfe in mobile or desktop view (should be able to change that in the browser settings somewhere)?
edit: and are you both getting redirected to the same page? (if you can't post that here just confirm via pm)

so as immediate solution:
set your user agent to desktop!
i had mine set to desktop on my android tablet, so i couldn't reproduce it yesterday.
the rest is up to bp and mh, which could take a while (hopefully not)
