Some LF2 Mods Not Working (Windows 8.1) - Rhino.Freak - 12-07-2013
So guys I recently upgraded my Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 (32bit), and now whenever I run my own mod that I am coding (Allstar BOF) or some other mods, I get an error like it has stopped working, how to fix this can somebody help me?? Original LF2 and some mods are working, but some aren't

Frankly I couldn't find it.. Both had AI.. Different design.. I am too confused..and sad

I presume they are either based on a different version or have different hex edits? Maybe some kind of moleboxing?

version is 2.0a, my mod has no exe edits except the graphics.. and neither is it moleboxed..

damn when I placed it in the folder of my mod, even the original exe crashed like this one.. thats weird.. :/

Are there custom dlls involved? If so try to move all of them away.
If that's not it either it might be some asset that is loaded right away (assuming you cannot even make it into the first menu).
I can only think of the sounds for that. Are those special? The game doesn't only load the menu sounds, but also the jump sound and certain other sound effects you cannot mute by taking out all sound tags inside data files. You can try to replace them with the original ones.

alright, I went through the mess and was a huge problem that I don't really know how happened.. in the downloads/compressed directory, all the .txt were deleted! there was no control.txt, data.txt, etc. in any mod present there, and they are like really LOST! I really don't have the backup to it, is there any other way to get a my precious data.txt back??

If there is no backup and they are gone. Then they are gone. :(
