Locating a Cord - LutiChris - 09-29-2014 So I'm trying to find a cord that contains a mini displayport to usb port but all i can find are large bulky ones and super long cords that only have a mini display to hdmi/vga ports, anyone wanna help me scavenge for this item? the closest i could find was this the top left corner of the picture seems to be the one im looking for but I don't want to buy the bundle. if anybody could find it separately or another alternate version let me know! I would really appreciate it. thanks^^ RE: Locating a Cord - SirFrog - 09-29-2014 So do you have a screen which ends in a Mini DisplayPort and you want to connect it to a USB port, right? Here's the problem, I believe. A Mini DisplayPort is an audio-visual connector. USB is a generic data connector. Thus, in order for you to patch data from a Mini DisplayPort to a USB, you'd have to have an interpreter between, commonly known as an external video card. These are the bulky boxes you've probably seen. RE: Locating a Cord - LutiChris - 10-01-2014 Yeah, although i would have prefered getting one that connected to a usb i realize now that it wouldn't work. So im probably going to stick with the bulky one. My Cintiq Companion has 2 usb ports and one mini display port I'm trying to purchase 2 portable monitors that connect to regular/mini display ports. i think this should work? link it's pretty expensive though :m RE: Locating a Cord - SirFrog - 10-01-2014 Probably. Maybe. I have no experience with it, so you'll have to look around for reviews and solutions. It looks suitable though. RE: Locating a Cord - LutiChris - 10-01-2014 the monitors look like this btw: link and the cheapest MST Hub I could find: link |
