Best way not to get infected:

-First get a safe planning position.
-Call all your friends to check whether some of them are survivors, too. Usually, you should try cellphone numbers.
-Gather some supplies, weapons of your choice and roadmaps.
-Find the next bridge on the maps.
(-Wait for your friends to arrive, don't forget to check them on bite wounds)
-Rush outside, hopping into someones car.
-Drive too that bridge.
-Jump from the bridge.

Problem solved, you can't be infected anymore.
