new sprite:
Cassandra Alexander - Soul Calibur:
One of my favourite characters in Soul Calibur... I don't think I did her justice. Brightness balance seems a little off...
EDIT: And oh my goodness I forgot her SHIELD...

1) DO NOT PM ME
2) Go read up on anatomy and proportions online. (google is your best friend)
3) Go read up on pencil sketching-shading.
4) Practice by making FULL character sheets. (Refer to bases and references if you have to, occasionally try doing things from scratch. You have to mix both methods; bases and without.)
5) DO NOT be an arrogant, self-righteous prick when people try to give useful critiques, and ignore the ones who are flaming idiots. (Flaming them back makes you one of them.)
6) Repeat steps 2 to 5 until you're happy, or you think you're good, then start sharing your knowledge with your fellow spriters.
7) Showcase your sprites. At first, do not be discouraged when you don't get any critiques, or lousy/generic critiques. Continue practicing and showcasing your work. With more sprites, it will be clearer what your strengths and weaknesses are, and people may be better able to give you better critique.
Lastly, if you think saying all this makes me an arrogant, self-righteous prick who is too selfish to share his knowledge...
Then I say you cannot recognise wisdom when I've just slapped you in the face with it. (Also, those steps are the same steps I used to get to where I am, I don't know any way else to truly learn.)
Unless you think its worth my time, go F*** yourselves. I'm not going to bother to even reply to PMs like "can you help me make this character?" anymore.

What I like about your sprites is that you pick not the most aggressive colors but fairly desaturated, giving it a more professional look (at least this is where my preferences lay).
However, I must agree to LutiChris; the facial features get a little lost with the small contrast. Additionally, there seems to be an issue with the perspective: her left leg (esp. the boot) looks longer than the right one which itself seems thicker. Thus, it's hard to tell which way the lower half is facing and disrupts the feeling to look at an almost flawless sprite.
The rest is splendid, as usually.

Learnt how to pick colours from trying to imitate Ricky's sprites. lol.
Facial features are a little experimentation.
You're right on the boots though...

double post! bah. its been awhile.
Anyway, I installed photoshop cs5 recently, and it made a big effing mess of my tablet for some reason and made me go hell trying to reinstall and update my tablet drivers(they kept glitching on me for some reason.)
After all that freaking hassle I was itching to do a little spriting and experimenting again... and here's the result.
Kaileena - Prince of Persia: Warrior Within:
Also before i did that sprite above I was trying a little lf2-mini-sprite and a regular pixel sprite, which resulted in these:
On a weird note I got a little muddle headed halfway and thought the mini sprite was a regular sized sprite and the regular sized sprite was a double sized sprite... lol?
As usual I took some liberties with the proportions... Kaileena is freaking ANOREXIC compared to regular lf2 characters. But I kinda like it this way.
And I tried taking advice on putting more contrast on the facial features, not sure how well it works out. To me it looks like Kaileena's glaring at me. freaky.

Hmm, the sprite itself is, as usually, great. Just one question arises inside of me: is she wearing some sort of pantyhose? :P
Otherwise the colors fo the legs & belly/face are a little off, imo.

Are you stalking me? -_^. Its barely been 5 minutes since I posted and you're ready to shoot me down with critical observations. lol. jk.
Yea, now that you mention it, the leg colour is a little off... and I didn't draw toes or footwear... and I suddenly can't rmb if she's supposed to wear any footwear or was barefooted.

She was barefooted i think anyway nice drawing, i think she should hold the sword more appropriate and the leg is also mismatch in color just like BP said.
