A bit of story


Little Fighter 2 - NEW HORIZON

I present you: Project: New Horizon



So what's this all about? On a whim I decided to - after many years mind you - start modding LF2 again (for a bit).

New Horizon is a complete overhaul of the game you all know so well LF2 v2.0. New heroes, new music, new stages, new enemies new everything! I plan to recreate every little aspect of this game!

So to give you a heads up I'll upload this Thread once in a while (depends on how much free time my studies allow me to have)

Your opinion matters. This project is still in it's (more or less) early stages, so constructive criticism is always good to have! Don't worry, I won't bite you, even if you trash talk this mod :D.

#HOW TO INSTALL

1. This is a full overhaul of the game. You DO NOT need to override anything,
simply drop the folder where you want to and start the game.

2. Enjoy

#FYI, the lf2.exe is equivalent to the v2.0 lf2.exe (for now).
In other words, the lf2.exe was not yet modified in any shape or form.

#CHARACTERS

PYROMANIAC (Firen):
Since his childhood this person likes to burn buildings and forests to ashes.
Makes you wonder in what an environment he grew up...

D>A: Fireburst (stackable up to 3 times, getting stronger with each burst)
D>J: Throw Molotov Cocktail
D^J: Dynamite-Explosion
DvJ: Fireshower

Catching fire heals him.

SHAPESHIFTER (Rudolf):
An experimental robot created with the unique ability to mimic everything it touches.
Once the robot malfunctioned and escaped the laboratory it was created (and
misused) in, now walking its own path.

D>A: Zap
D>J: Shadow-walk
+J: Repeat Shadow-walk
+A: Catch nearby foe and take their form.

D^J: Invisible
DvJ: Clone
DvA: Drop mines

Thrown weapon has minor homing-effect

TROOPER (Louise):
A trained soldier that decided to join forces with the opposition.

D>A: Shoot with plasma-gun
+A: Repeat

D>J: Shoot with shotgun-pistol
D^J: Grab and throw enemy
DvA: Throw grenades
DJA: Transform (Yet to be done)

Has armor on and is therefore harder to injure.

REBEL (David):
As a person unhappy with how life is around him, he goes out of his way to rampage and change the world
through force and aggression!

D>A: Shoot forward
+J: Shoot in both directions (+A switches back to forward)

D>J: Throw molotov
DvA: Shrafe
+A: Catch (works for first 2 punches)

D^A: Dragon-Punch
+A: Leap-attack

D^J: Leap-attack
+A Attack

In-air + D: Leap-attack
D+J+A: Converse enemy (Works only once)

He is able to make enemies join his side once (Only simpleminded folks are affected).

SCOUT (Bandit):
A simpleton working for the military, wielding a knife and a handgun.

D>A: Throw grenade
D>J: Ready handgun
+A/J: Shoot
+D: Abbort

DvA: Stab knife (Works for caugth enemies too)

GUNNER (Hunter):
A simpleton wielding an AK. Might be a bit too trigger-happy.

D>A: Throw grenade
D>J Burst (3 shots)

Throws grenades when in air.

NADEMANIAC (Mark):
A maniac strapped with a grenade-belt. Explosives are happiness.

D>A: Catch enemy (and tape grenade on them)
D>J: Bodyslam-run
DvA: Throw grenades
DJA: Kamikaze

He likes to strap grenades on caught people.

SHOTGUNNER (Jack):
A soldier wielding a shotgun. SHOTGUN.

D>A: Fire shotgun
+A: repeat

D^A: Weaponbutt
+A: followup-kick

D>J: Throw grenade

HOODED MAN (Sorcerer):
A strange hooded figure. A mystery. Their arm seems to be out of metal.

D>A: Lasershot
D>J: Plasmashot
D^J: Medikit
DvJ: Laser-of-Doom

Throws caltrops when in air.

MECHANIC (Monk):
A genius mechanic, spending his time building wondrous creations.

D>A: Plasma-Minigun
D>J: Deploy turret
DvA: Throw drones

MAI (Jan):
A beautiful women in a revealing outfit. She likes jetpacks...

D^A: Mortar
D^J: Medikit drones
Jump+J: Jetpack
D>J: Zap-Volley

Great against many but weak against few.

MECHA (Knight):
One of the mechanic's many creations. Literally a mecha designed for close-combat.
DO NOT approach it casually. It seems to have a weak-spot on it's back...

JUMP: Landing on an enemy hurts them.
A+A+A: Punch-Combo

Boost immense defense from the front and can deploy a powerful shield.

SHOCK (Justin):
A cyborg created in a mysterious laboratory after Shapeshifter escaped said lab.
Very fast and strong using a tazer-like blade as weapon.

D>A: Zap
D>J: Dash-Slice
DvA+A+A:Slice-Combo
DvJ: Discharge own electricity to surrounding (immense power)

OVERSEER:
The overseer of Stage 1. A master at countering and evasion. Use attacks that can instantly make him fall.
He can evade fire!

JUMP: Throw grenade
D>A: Throw grenade
D+A: Bodytackle
DvA: Knife-attack
D>J: Shoot

TRACKMAN:
The boss of Stage 2. He flies around using a jetpack and can control trains.

A: Throw molotov
D: Throw molotov
J: Throw grenades
Everything else: Spawn trains.

#STAGES
Story has yet to be made. Please be patient :D

1.Stage:
You attack a military outpost in a city where you were kept imprisoned. Searching for answers as to what is going on you look for the Overseer.
After defeating him, you find notes on a location that is being kept top-secret. So you begin your journey closer to that location.
2.Stage:
You find yourself on a railway, since this is the best way to travel unnoticed, or so you thought. Soon the military swarms you to try and stop you from going any further.
3.Stage: Yet to be done
4.Stage: Yet to be done
5.Stage: Yet to be done

Survival Stage: Yet to be done

#UPDATES

VERSION 0.1:
-Recreated ALL normal Enemies (Bosses not included)
-Replaced 1st and 2nd Stage with new maps.
-Recreated 2 Heroes: Firen (Pyromaniac), Rudolf (Shapeshifter)
-Replaced music with new music.

VERSION 0.1.5:
-Added Rebel (Davis), but still a WIP
-Added first boss: Overseer
-Added first steps at naration. (still bugged though)

VERSION 0.2:
-Fixed 1st Stage, boss-fight is now possible
-Added Trooper (Louise)
-Added second boss: Trackman (he might be too op though...)
-Added 2nd Stage with naration and trains(!!)
-Tried my hand at storytelling, which can be found in the ReadMe-file. (But it's very improvised xD)

powers are cool and unique. If possible please draw more new and original like lf2 character. You could ask rewfl2 he can make revamps and stuff. Pyromaniac's flamethrower was smooth and looked like he could be polished. Nevertheless it's still in early stage so i would love to see after this gets polished! Goodluck!

Thanks! I'll try my best over time so stay tuned :D.

As for the style: I'll try to keep that traditional LF2-look, although that might be a bit hard some times. As of now the Mecha (the giant robot) has been the hardest to draw... well actually I scratched my drawings (since drawing from scratch is not my specialty :s) and used my rusty blender-skills to create full blown cgi Xd.

But right now I need to catch up on studies a bit, since I spent a bit too much time procrastinating :p. The next update will probably entail some new heroes and first (baby-)steps at storytelling.

Hey there, it's been a while (again)!

Here's a quick update to this project. I apologize for the long wait, I've been busy with university.
I updated the first post, you can find the download link and changelog there.

Exams are starting and will take up a month of my time, so I figured I'll update you guys before that!

Anyways I added a new playable character, (but will change him in the next update). Additionally Stage 1 now features a boss-fight (please tell me whether he's too hard to beat or not, he's pretty op) and a bit of naration (but still a bit glitch-y)! Here some pics of what's new:

The gun-skill looks awesome as well. Very nice.
he is so badass that I understand why the bandit joined him.

Thank you! Those gun-moves took a bit to make, I wasn't sure whether it looked good enough yet :D.
Though honestly, I planned on doing more modding these past few months, but other things got in the way :s.

I like it! You put a lot of effort just for those minion characters. Reminds me of LF Mystics, would love to see some more stage modifications and story focus, but don't know if that's what you're going for.

New characters are quite a bit stronger than regular lf haracters, I think you can balance them easily, by making attacks with smaller range/size/amount of projectiles, Rebel so far seems good.

Right now Pyromaniac is at big disadventage against boss bandit, as none of fire attacks work againts him. Also last phase of stage is not working, so I fought with him 1v1 in vs mode.

Hope to see you come back to working on it

Hey there! It's been a while!
Here's a new update for you guys. I fixed 1st Stage and worked on the 2nd Stage. There's now a new 2nd-Stage-boss-fight and a new hero to play as (Trooper). Though the second boss might be too op, please give me some feedback on that if that's the case :D.

I haven't thought much about balance yet, but some moves are definitely too op. Basically I thought about making everything a bit stronger than normal LF but we'll see how that turns out.
Also thanks for pointing out the bugged boss-fight, I have no idea how that happaned :p. For now I left pyromaniac at a disadvantage, but I might do something about that later.
