thing is.. then e.g simon would have to use an modnotice just to make an modtag.. cause only if he uses the modnotice the "edited by" will be sent... in other words we would be forced to use modnotice too when we just want to edit something... which sucks => not a good idea.

I think, Lauli means something similar to "(This post was last modified: Today 22:13 by Lauli.)" in the bottom right of the post. Well, I had a look into it and I must say: even if it was possible to use it that way, it would be hard as heck to realize :/

you mean they are supposed to be disabled for the normal members? cuz they weren't once i tried to write a sentence and end it with [/modname] so it worked...

^ No, they're just supposed to be tags for the mods to use.
As said before, people who aren't supposed to use it shouldn't use it. We'll see anyway if it's been abused if there's no "Post has been edited by *modname" below the post.
@Phil: This appears after general editing, not only modnoticing.
BTW: Nobody used my tag? Mine is most awesome.
