First Sprite,I guess - Darl - 03-24-2009

Um,after seeing some work of a friend,it just inspired me to sprite myself

Here is a single sprite I did =x.Any contribution to its improvement will be welcome.

very good for first sprite i really like it well shaded,well looking and i think this is not your first sprite.

Look at it yourself and ask yourself: 'What doesn't look right?'

When I look at your character and I ask myself that same question, I notice that the right (from our perspective) shoe is totally out of position.

Some things I've noticed:
  • The shoes are too round. Look at e.g. Davis' shoes and compare them.
  • The shading on the left (our perspective) leg is brilliant, but I don't think the T-shirt (well, the center piece inside the jacket) features any shading at all :/
  • Arms and face don't match.

I like the overal look of the character though.

Thanks for all the positive feedback.

@XLittlebob252: Thanks,and,it is my first sprite. I have a friend who is an amazing spriter,and always shows me his work before and after being finished.So I just have an idea of what to do xD.

@JossuaDC: I did notice the shoes,but the shoes and the hair were the most annoying thing to do.
Related to the chest's shading,after I completed it,my friend told me he was tall,compared to the proportions of Davis and Woody,so I made the T-Shirt bigger,and moved everything down 2 pixels and I didn't make the shading after that.
About the third point...ah,I didn't understand that one xD

Lol,I really like that hair,mine is too shiny o.o. But I don't like much the shading of the pants and the jacket xD,but then again,my shading skills aren't much to compare xD,but I'll try what you did,use only 2 colors -x-
