Mmmm..
Those are pretty nice for a start.
Looks like you've got some idea about shading.

Try using some other programs than ms paint (or other tool than pencil in other programs), because they look rather sharp.
And shading in the last one isn't so great- probably because you took bad colors.

But you seem to shape your characters pretty well for a beginner. Keep it up :).

GIMP is free and good program, you can download it here:
http://www.gimp.org/downloads/
Paint.net is also free, but very many aren't using it.

well, I'd suggest you to use Gimp (which is kinda hard) or Photofiltre
you can always download PhotoShop, but it's a hard piracy :D, some guys here use it and there are tutorials for it (in tutorial section)

i edit lf2 bat and bandit sprites from bat_0 and bandit_0 first frame :) :) :)

as I already said few times - editing existing sprites is the best way to learn shading and shaping.
bat looks pretty cool and well shaded

bandit is somehow worse
the main problem - his torso - it's too rectanglelike
also contrast of shading on his hair is too high

keep it up anyway

It's actually quite good. the bandit stance is kinda weird. Maybe make more contrast on second sprite. Good luck in spriting :thumbsup:;).

Your sprites are good. You have shaded bat very nicely. Try to make bandit in some other stance. It looks weird standing like that.

Nice sprites as a newbie ;)
Try to use GIMP if u don't have PS...
