I can only stress what other people have said.
Forums are like tourism: low season and high season. Every year. (For example it's end-of-year exams for people in the Southern hemisphere, and in the middle of the next year it will be exams for people in the Northern hemisphere).
But then there are the long term low and high seasons. I wasn't here at the beginning of LFE, but I'm sure there was a lot of activity then.
Silva's false farewell thread earned him quite a lot of thanks...

Why are people getting so agitated though?
It was just an observation based on what he sees now, and what he
remembers from a while ago.
Admittedly making this point while exams are still on is a bit of a
misshap, but nothing to get overly fussed about.
