Bamboo < Intuos < Cintiq
This rather short statement applies to both quality as well as price. Whereas you can get a Bamboo for $100, you will have problems finding a Cintiq costing less than $1000.
I myself am a proud owner of an Intuos 3, and so far, except for the rubber-feet that are always dropped at high temperatures, it's ultra-robust. I've heard from a couple others that Bamboos are good for those that seek something of high quality for a low price, so this might be of interest to you, too. If you're planning to go a little more into professional business, it's a good thing to get an Intuos. As long as you don't have the income, I'd dehort from purchasing a Cintiq. Those are only of value if you earn your living with graphics.
I'd recommend to take the best you can for as cheap as possible. Intuos if your budget is a little larger, otherwise, Bamboo will be fine as well. Just a thing which might be of interest for you (and Chishio :P): it is extremely hard to get started with a tablet as you have to watch the screen without looking at your hands. Hard in the beginning, yes, but you'll get used to it. The key is practice. Otherwise, the best will not be good enough.
