Just thought we maybe could bring them back to live?
i mean i for myself aren't using the things on the upper right corner.
I think noone has a "buddy list" and noone staying here for longer needs help
logging out is optional, i for myself never log out. :P
searching the forums can be done with the button on the main header.

but why would you want this feature back?
when it was first introduced, it was cool and new, but it just got ugly. Then i doubt it was used widely.
I wouldnt want this awesome theme being ruined by it. If you want the advertisement, just use the Blue theme.

Anyways, totally agree with Alectric. The idea has worn off by now. People started abusing this for their projects etc. without further caring for it (in the end, there were, in case I remember correctly, 27 out of 31 entries that linked to quasi-dead places).

I might be able to give the user a choice to switch between the "Buddy List | Help | Logout | Search"-area and an advertising-bit which will be fully controlled by a script; however, this would definitely be located at the far bottom of my priority-list (and I pretty much cut off the bottom 90% of it on an hourly basis). So far, the poll-results are not really showing that there is a whole lot of interest in this anyways.

Oh, btw, I do use the buddy-list as well as the logout-link and search-box regularly. Just to say that there are still some people out there that actually use them :P

There was a picture anyone could add just to advertise his project or something on forums.

Anyways, I definately agree on things Alectric pointed out. Everything has an end of their freshness (?), so had the random image.
