Custom built computer
#1
Hey.
I don't know how familiar your with computers overall, but I consider buying a computer, or actually, computer parts.
I don't plan on building it by myself, even though I probably could, but I feel safer to have a computer maintenance store build it for me.
I'd like to know your thoughts about this and/or experience about custom computers.

Here are the parts:

ASUS M4A89TD PRO/USB3 ATX AMD Motherboard

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor

PALIT GEFORCE GTX 560 TI SONIC - 1 GT GDDR5 - PCI-EXPRESS 2.0 Graphics card

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory

Crucial RealSSD C300 CTFDDAC064MAG-1G1 2.5" MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

I'm still thinking about power supply, case, fan, and probably the cheapest dvd-burner

So basicly the computer has two drives, a 64Gb solid state for the os, and a 2Tb hdd for the rest of the stuff.
8 Gb RAM
Geforce GTX 560 Ti graphics with 1Gb memory
AMD Phenom II X6 3,2GHz cpu
and a motherboard with usb3 and stuff, which should be compatible with the above

The whole package (with the cheapest case, power supply and dvd burner) it costs 820e (+shipping)

Also I'd want to know about a good monitor for this.

I have changed a lot of times computer parts by myself, like DVD,mother board,Graphical Card,HDD and RAM.
And also I have built one totally by myself and my father (sure, after we had all parts). All them last summer.

Isn't this to much?! 2Tb is unnecessary,in my opinion!

People have said the same thing when the 100MB HDs hit the market :p

Also, I'm still a little sceptical about those SSD-drives. The way they work is quite crazy and, with enough traffic, they'll have the same life-expectancy like a USB-stick. Some day, they just die. Okay, by the time that happens, you probably can buy the same thing for €50-ish, so that might be something.... But, in case you have anything that you will definitely need in a few years, save it rather to a regular HDD. Much more reliable in long terms.

The funny thing is that the 2Tb hdd is cheaper than the 64Gb ssd. 70e and 100e. But the ssd makes the computer faster, like alot.
And yes, 2Tb is pretty much

But I've thought about one other thing, about dual booting mac os x to it too. Don't know if this works since the macs on the market have intel processors and motherboard and might not support amd cpu. I read somewhere that it's something like this but it can be worked around with some crack, which I don't want to go for cause I have the legit install dvd...

And Bp, I thought it was the other way, that the ssds will outnumber the hdds

^nope not funny. ssd have always been awesomely expensive, take that and their supposedly short time and you know why they aren't the standard yet even though being superior in speed.
a friend of mine bought 5 ssds in total out of dumbness cause his notebook always broke them by having a too high temperature in the ssd region :S
PCs are fine I guess.

Well it won't work without a crack, that's for sure. Maybe if you google the stuff about powerpc you might find a legal way, though I doubt it seriously, so don't get your hopes up too high.
