LF2 Artistic Concept mod
#1
Hi,

It's a whole new little project I'm working on, more details very soon.
The main target is to alter the artistic style of LF2 a bit. (I won't work on ALL objects though, it's a concept)

Progress:

as you can see I tried to improve the background, I don't know whether to keep cartoon lines on most things or not. (not really improved lol)

Credit: THANKS to 艾爾卡特 for his highly improved LF2 2.0a engine which can directly load the png files of Bandit's sprites.

Hey, this is a fresh new idea, good luck with it! ;)
I wouldn't "seal" the dialogues into the spritesheets, but opoint each one as a separate object. That way you could get a little more dynamic into it.

You could also redo the sounds, if you're going for a complete stylistic rework. If you want I could help you with it!
(EDIT: I meant to help you with the sounds.)

for dialogues: you know, my laziness :P anyway it's really funny to see how Bandit falls on the ground now

for sounds: good idea, I will consider it :)

I would like to at most rework one of each type of objects right now..

You should make the outlines smaller on the background, like on the characters.
And instead of using black, try to use dark faint colors. Brown-grey or something, that should make them less prominent, wile maintaining that "outline-look".

But in my opinion, you could try to simplify the existing BGs, instead of making completely new ones.

i strongly support both suggestions, especailly that with dialogues. it may look kinda poorly in that version. imo, it would the best to make them animate, and maybe change appearance into something like speech balloon? you can also make some interesting effect, thanks to .png format.
