Forum mute.
#1
I don't know if its possible to do on MyBB but here is the idea.

It works like that.
Admins or even maybe mods could do forum mute for a member.
Example:
Mono is spammin bullsh*t.
Admins or mods mutes him so he would not be able to post/reply/pm and similar stuff for some ammount of time. But he would be able to log in, enter every topic which is allowed for his rank(just call it rank).
It would be like warn. it would expire after week of few. Its up to Admins or mods to decide for how long person will be muted.
It wont be ban, but just forum mute.

Oh I always thought a ban would be like that. Being stripped of the ability to post/reply bust still view everything. (I mean if you don't login you can see everything anyway)

Like YinYin said a ban does pretty much the same thing.

Yeah, maybe thats bad Idea.
Maybe because this is open forum when even someone is being guest.

Nope. Being banned means that the user can neither post nor vote nor view threads.

Might be a thing to consider.

Right. I think a ban should only take post rights (in radical cases also pm rights).

What's the point of taking viewing rights? User can still see stuff when logged out.

Ramond has a point. That would only be good if the ban would be something like an IP ban.
To live a life of power, you must have faith that what you believe is right, even if others tell you you're wrong.
The first thing you must do to live a life of power is to find courage. You must reach beyond the boundaries of time itself.
And to do that, all you need is the will to take that first step...
Ask not what others can do for you, but what you can do for others.

Don't ask me. Since becoming ad admin, I've never edited the user-permissions for the banned :p

Well, it's updated now. Essentially the same rights as guests + the ability to "View New Posts". Because there are no graded banning-levels, I went ahead with disabling PMs altogether for those. There is usually a reason why somebody is banned; and giving those people the (possible) chance to annoy others via PM is certainly counterproductive.
