Firstly, make a new folder if you don’t want the sprites to mess up. Then copy the sprite sheets you want to recolor. And then paste them in the same folder. Open one of the copied bitmaps with Microsoft Office Picture Manager and then open the Picture submenu and click on the colour tab. After that, on the right side set the amount to 100, saturation to 100 and hue to any colour you like. I have taken red for example:
After that save the bitmap and open the two copies of the same bitmap with paint, one which you made a different colour and the original one in the folder you made. After opening, see that you have selected the Free-Form Select Tool and have made the transparent mode with the background colour black in both the opened bitmaps. After that go to the colored bitmap and zoom 8X to avoid problems and select the part of the sprite you want to use. For example I have taken the hand:
After copying, go to the original bitmap and paste it and make sure the original part is covered by the recolored part. See down:
Now for the head-part:
Take an original face and copy-paste it in the folder you made.Open the copied face with Microsoft Office Picture Manager and then open the Picture submenu and click on the colour tab. After that, on the right side set the amount to 100, saturation to 100 and hue to any colour you like. I have taken red for example:
Then save the file. After saving, open the original face and the colored face with paint and select the part you want to use. For example I have taken the shirt here: P.S: DONOT USE THE FREE-FORM SELECT TOOL.
After copying the part, paste it on the original face. After matching it with the rest of the picture, it should look like this:
This part is gonna be a little tough. Pick the colour of the surroundings and use it to blend the colored part with the skin, the background and etc. After blending it should look like this:
Tip: If you have any software like PhotoFiltre, be sure to blur the edges a little to make the picture smoother.
