That's right, I'm working on another background. Sorry for the non-descriptive title Figured I'm far enough to show what I've done so far and ask for some feedback.
If you couldn't tell, it's heavily inspired by the Divine Comedy :P Got most of the stuff done except for the backmost layer, which is extremely tedious to draw (shading on the demon still isn't quite done. Especially the chest and head still need work and the wings, obviously...).
I hope I'll get it animated, but that might very well exceed my abilities. The inscription and gate are already animated, though.
Mayor thanks to Blue Phoenix, his help so far has been quite invaluable.

Yeah!! A nice idea! Actually, I think the demon needs a bit more detailed, maybe an armor for it. Also, a bit of lava?

Near the demon: Not likely. In the book he's in a lake/river made out of frozen tears :P Yeah, that one isn't quite done yet, either.

Not quite sure whether I want each of my bg's to have a special effect. If I do it might be either lava or some sort of ice/whirlwind (the movement of Lucifer's wings is the reason for the river to become frozen).

Most people probably expect demons to come with lava.

Thanks. I haven't seen Supernatural, so I don't know why that would be, but Lucifer means 'Lightbringer' and is the name of The morning star and the angel who was outcast by god because he loved himself more than God. He then became the Devil.

Two brothers have to stop Lucifer in the fifth series of Supernatural after one of them sets him free. That's probably why it reminds me of the television series.

Well, the left head of the demon is not quite visible. Improve the proportions of his arms, don't make them too round. Rib is not properly made just give it a proper structure and texture.
