Good day, sirs.
It's top of the morning here and I'm up for a story. Here's how it goes: My little brother asked me install him again the once deleted Little Fighter 2, because it had the "incorrect sprites while facing left" error. This error is supposedly caused in many video cards and in many computers by to this day unknown reasons. I have a laptop with vista operating system and a stationary pc with vista operating system in which the error persists. On the other hand, I have a stationary pc with XP operating system in which there aren't any errors. I leave the big question - Why the error comes into presence after a long time of absence? - up to better minds than me.
I started looking at the problem seriously because I knew my lil bro wouldn't shut up about it or stop nagging me. So onwards I went. By that I mean: HAHA, I'M USING THE INTERNET. I downloaded the latest LF2 v2.0a and I noticed that the creators addressed the problem and fixed it by "mirroring the sprites". Great, right? Well, no, my lil bro goes and says he wants the mods: the cloning Naruto, the bankai Bleach, the overpowered steroid eating Broly from DBZ. I download some mods. And they don't work. I mirror the sprites... and they don't work. I go to DirectX control panel to Direct Draw and un-tick the hardware acceleration. And it works... but the special attacks don't work. My PC gets almost busted because I fiddle with more controls. So I reinstall my drivers, directx, SDK and repair/clean my registries. Back to square one.
After some sleep, I wake up and go "Eureka!". I reason like this: If I put a character and its data is in data and sprites are in sprite/sys and only then it works I'll do the same with mods. Of course, I think to myself, I won't do them all by one. I copy the mod's files (EXCEPT THE EXE) and replace them in version 2.0a. Now I run the original lf2 application and voulia! - it finally works.
NOTE: If mods see this post, this error fix should be rephrased and addressed in HOW TO CORRECT ERRORS IN LF2-DOWNLOADS.
Happy gaming, or something.
