If you're talking about char making, you can try making the sprite in x4 size so you can re use the heads and other parts by just spinning/flipping them :/ that's the way how i made Cert and it really took just about 3 days to sprite it :/
Might be back, might be not :^) anyways awesome to see you guys again!

IF i sprite i always do the following:
-sprite over templates (doesdnt have to be template, can be any char with similar proportions/size)
-first draw only the dark colors
-after one sheet (or one or more sprites, your choice) add the lighter colors

this way i can finish one frame in about 5 minutes
(ofc my sprites are not super great, but they are average at least)

Concentrate on quality, not quantity, enjoy the creation, not labor over it.

how long does it normally take you? (1 frame of animation)
if it's under 30min ur good...if you take longer than an hour it's best to have some tips
I don't need to know how to go faster, i take my time cuz i have patience :P

if you do wanna go faster, the smaller the image the faster the rate...
usually i think under the lines... "haste makes waste"

so all i can say is work @79x79 (however, you won't get the same kind of quality than u would with a larger size)
you could try spriting half of what your normally working @ and sort of even things out (time-wise and quality)

also its good that you use just 2 shades (makes things faster)
if you use your tablet for both shades (when using the dark color) tablet isn't nessesary to use
because it reads pressure sensitivity automatically >> thus forcing you to go over the same area more than twice
(you can simply turn that off and you won't need to use your mouse)
if you're simply too lazy to make the adjustments, just use dark colors with your mouse and light things with tablet

here's another tip: use one layer (however, i recommend multiple layers so you don't screw up)

another thing you could do is ... hire someone else to do part of the work :P

@ up: lol? XD usually takes me less than 5min work per frame (IF i wanted to) but since there no reason to rush things i take it normally.. but you seemed to point out most of the stuff i wanted to say :P

also if you want to develop this kind of speed mono i recommend working on 79x79 like luti pointed out. i am sure its much faster than the 200% and 400% stuff. oh and one more factor that could help you is to make full playable characters more often.

gad makes lots of them, so that why he has his so called fastest technique i guess.

If you're still using GIMP, yes you can, but the quality drop is HUGE if you use 79x79 size.

Practicing A LOT will also help speed up any skill, but it requires patience.
