OMG! kids have a facebook account - it's evil! facebook is a collection of pedophiles and murderers, no one shouldn't have a facebook. maybe these children have even mobilephone so some pedobear bad human can phone to them and ask about adress. so mobilephones also are evil. what if they started write letters?!
no seriously: everything is for people, they just have to know how to use of some stuff. that they're children doesn't mean they're stupid. and can you tell me where is the border of being children? nevermind if you have 11 or 16 - you're still children. i have 18 and what? i live with my family and still have some years of learning before me. i'm still kiddo, i have to listen my parents. maybe i'm just kinda smarter than some years ago you aren't adult because you drinking beer after school :P

Try to find a 7-year-old who gives a damn about adjusting privacy-settings in a way that they can browser failbook safely. They probably don't even understand the first paragraph of its TOS:
This Statement of Rights and Responsibilities ("Statement," "Terms," or "SRR") derives from the Facebook Principles, and is our terms of service that governs our relationship with users and others who interact with Facebook. By using or accessing Facebook, you agree to this Statement, as updated from time to time in accordance with Section 14 below. Additionally, you will find resources at the end of this document that help you understand how Facebook works.
Same with other communities. Some people successfully manage to keep their real name, for instance, to themselves (most prominent example would be Silva, I guess ). How is a child supposed to know which information about its private life can be revealed without consequences ("Hey, I took a poop 5 minutes ago and I thought I'd let you all know" vs. "I'm the best soccer-player of Team XYZ in age-class C and I've shot 21 goals in the last season"). Depends on the question if you want to be found but I don't recommend letting a less-than-10-year-old decide that. In fact, quite some online communities require a minimum age of 13 to participate.
edit: just read a little further in failbook's TOS:
4. Registration and Account Security
Facebook users provide their real names and information, and we need your help to keep it that way. Here are some commitments you make to us relating to registering and maintaining the security of your account:
You will not provide any false personal information on Facebook, or create an account for anyone other than yourself without permission.
You will not create more than one personal account.
If we disable your account, you will not create another one without our permission.
You will not use your personal timeline for your own commercial gain (such as selling your status update to an advertiser).
You will not use Facebook if you are under 13.
You will not use Facebook if you are a convicted sex offender.
You will keep your contact information accurate and up-to-date.
You will not share your password (or in the case of developers, your secret key), let anyone else access your account, or do anything else that might jeopardize the security of your account.
You will not transfer your account (including any Page or application you administer) to anyone without first getting our written permission.
If you select a username or similar identifier for your account or Page, we reserve the right to remove or reclaim it if we believe it is appropriate (such as when a trademark owner complains about a username that does not closely relate to a user's actual name).

But other than that, it is still an excellent way to communicate with your friends. The solution to the problem you stated would be not fill in your address.

I dunno if these forums are such a community, though.

I *hate* Facebook too much to describe. Worst of all, I was forced into signing up - I didn't want to get grounded for ±1 year (or 5 years, can't remember).

Facebook have many applications which ask about person behave, info.
Kids does using them, even adult are using.
''i know person who does have about four fb accounts, and every account is alive, in fb there is bastards who is posting sick children photos and asking to like, whenever its just to gain money by using trick.

Kids aren't dumb enough to give away their adress. But they might just do it the other way around. Like in the start of 2011 here in Lithuania. A 13 year old girl from Alytus met a 14 year old guy from Vilnius on Facebook. A few days later she was already on the news and stuff saying she's missing. And like a week or two after she was found dead in the woods. Some say she was also raped before her death.
My point is that she drove a 101 km distance alone to meet a guy she never saw or knew, she just met him on the internet. This Facebook thing is going insane and kids are trying to be mature to early. I mean, come on a boyfriend at 13? That's just stupid.

I'd be glad if Facebook stopped existing.
I actually had to do a school assignment about Facebook, but I hate Facebook a lot (if I had to say how much then this post would probably be three pages long :o) so I didn't do it.
...
Why does Blue Phoenix refer to "Facebook" as "Failbook?" (just curious)

Heh the guys at my school are also "mature". Mostly having "girlfriends" and, well being stupid.
Everybody is using facebook (failbook ) now. I've seen kids with 3 years, 3 YEARS having facebook accounts. I mean kids smaller than me act like adoults. Also many of the smaller kids are starting to learn the violante(is this the word?) ways. But there are still some normal, smart people so we are safe.
