I watched crocodile a little and realised he cannot be beaten without water. If this battle gets done in a waterless area; gaara simply loses. And gaara cannot manipulate everysand.

For example, The sand belongs to who has more chakra in it. I mean, gaara cannot move his fathers sand' easily when his father moving it.

And if we assume Crocodile himself have more control in his own sand(especially himself), it is almost impossible for gaara to bend it.

And also crocodile have poison attacks either.

And in a dry area gaara loses.

Since gaara is not a water chakra type, even near an ocean, he can only push crocodile into a water, which is quite hard.

and no, i dont think that gaara is shikamaru, but looking at episodes 300-301 shows that gaara knows to come up with a good strategy...

you guys only look at how can one of them be killed, but you arent looking at each's skills, how can crocodile even get to hit gaara!?
gaara is way stronger, as i understand, crocodile cant use that sand body of his all the time, so gaara can get to killing him!
gaara has the ultimate defence, its very very hard to hit him, you all forget that, however crocodile is skilled and will put a hard time for gaara, but he wont get to win this fight....

But attacks are not always just hit, maybe something other than that.

Well both Crocodile and Gaara can create sand. Crocodile by sucking the moisture out of the environment. Gaara by creating it underground quietly. This way Gaara would be able to foresight Crocodile's attack.
Also, both have destructive sand attacks but, Gaara controls sand, whereas, like Lauli said, Crocodile virtually is sand. Gaara controls sand, Crocodile is sand. But you guys are saying that Gaara cannot kill his own sand. While that is true, Gaara can control any sand, and as Crocodile is sand, he can control him too. But if you guys doubt it and say that he found trouble controlling his dad's sand as stuff, well i'm pretty sure the Fourth Kazekage was stronger than Crocodile and also in Naruto episode 220 (the video I showed before) and in Naruto Shippuden episode 4, it shows that Gaara eventually gained major control over the Shukaku, so if Gaara can control a monstrous tailed beast such as the Shukaku, I'm sure he can control Crocodile who virtually is sand.

@betit: you don't seem to understand
in this fight his father explains why he is shielded by the sand.. He clearly even says its not the shukakus power (@3:07 in the following video).

also in this video you can see how strong gaara really is.. the kages in this video were the strongest in their area and he was able to bind them at the same time even for a short time.

Also to say something about the things talked about earlier, crocodile can be beat without water, with blood to be exact.
