Mono sprites
#71
Well, probobly adding too many details on big sprite is not good when you need to resize to small one.

About same lighting. I still want to make shading style that fits for many light sources.

Much better. Really gives it the oomph that only 3 had.
Hair pattern of the first is still best as it suggests layered depth, while this one is fanned out like a flat sunflower.

Everything above belly muscles looks best on the first.
Everything below looks best on the last.
Again it's contrast and light distribution that decides it for me.
The respective other half of the two and the ones in between are fine too, but have too little contrast or weird light distribution in some places (most notable the front hair, armpit, belly muscles and lower pants of the standing leg).

edit: I guess the different shadings only really become visible on the full scale for this one. Too much seems to get lost on downscaling. Are you ever testing different interpolation methods?

by different interpolation methods you mean something related to resizing, like not resizing to 79x79 or choosing quality of resizing (best quality, bad)?
or something different, this word seems to be bit unknow to me( yeah, i looked trough google and found something about changin values to unknown or from unknown or something).

yeah interpolation means resizing-mode

for photoshop standard is on bicubic, but for resizing sprites I use bilinear for example

another interesting interpolation-mode:

At mine there is called "Best quality" other ones are bicubic, bilinear and nearest neighbor (I am using paint.net)
there are some others but its more like making simple resize with pixelizing sprite.
like that one which mundvoll showed.

I tried one too by using paint.
1st is "Best Quality"
2nd is just resizing in paint.

also, changed bit hair of 5th.

Last one is my favorite. but maybe could you only highlight around the cheeks and not the whole face otherwise it'll just look flat.
Same with the pants, unremarkable detail ... shading is on the wrong side though for that other leg.

Other than that, the design is really neat and cool, im also a big fan of the hair^^
